Dipecat kerana bantu pembangkang

Bharian | Ketua Bahagian MIC Bayan Baru, Pulau Pinang, M Nganana Sagaran, dipecat daripada parti kerana didapati membantu pembangkang semasa pilihan raya umum, 8 Mac lalu.

Awas MIC tukar wajah

http://www.costumesbypattijo.com/Merchant2/graphics/00000001/30-57BS%20FUNNY%20BONES.jpgBernama - [...]

An open letter to Dato S Subramaniam and others who want to resurrect the now dead MIC

/praveen-nk

The abandonment of MIC by Malaysian Indians is surely a reflection that MIC has failed itself significantly in representing the very people it serves.

MIC failed the Indians, when did barely nothing to prevent the temple demolitions. MIC failed when its leaders did not ensure that budgeted allocations actually went towards needy Tamil schools. MIC failed when it's leaders did not negotiate for better salaries for Estate Workers, or find jobs for displaced Estate workers. May we ask what MIC did towards halting the rising rates of gangsterism within the Malaysian Indian community?

We did not hear a squeak from MIC leaders when time and again Indians died in police custody. Once again where was the voice of MIC leaders when our deserving students did not get placement in the Universities? Neither did we hear our MIC representatives clamour to give housing for poor urban Indians. Where were the MIC leaders when our community were deprived of jobs and when the number of Indians in Government dropped alarmingly?

Sir, sorry to say, that our MIC leaders together with the ruling Government wilfully neglected the Indian community. So now you tell us, why do we Indians need such category of self serving leaders?

Though we Malaysian Indians had MPs and other leaders in Government, rarely did anyone take up their cause, a case in point, the hundreds of Memos sent in by Hindraf went virtually ignored and unanswered by all in government. When in actual fact, the MIC should have taken onus to address the problems enumerated in the Hindraf demands, this being specific Indian issue. Instead leaders went all out to demonise us, resorting to all manner of name calling from penyangkak to extremists to murderers even to the extent of our esteemed police force's vivid and imaginary terrorist links.

Why you too Sir, did not make any efforts to take up the Indian cause, surely with your connections you could have highlighted the Indian plight, but then I guess all of you very busy pursuing your own personal and business interests. Why did you not use your influence with the Government to speak on behalf of the thousands of Indians who came out on the streets in a voice of discontent? Were you lounging in one of the hotels on Jalan Ampang watching us Malaysian Indians being jetted with chemical waters and tear gas?

Consider the 12th General Elections and see for yourself how the Indians rallied with the opposition especially in constituencies where MIC candidates were contesting. Indians tirelessly worked to ensure that MIC candidates failed to get elected. Is that not proof in itself, that the very people MIC represents, in effect ensured its failure? Otherwise how do you attribute that even the CEO of MIC and his deputy failed to get elected, it was not by coincidence but the very intention of frustrated and marginalised Malaysian Indians.

One of the main reasons for the debacle of the BN in this elections, is that the Indians previously complacent openly came out in large numbers to assist the opposition candidates, be it DAP, PAS or PKR, it did not matter to them whether the candidates were Indian, Chinese, Malay or any other, nevertheless Indians gave their whole hearted support to any candidate other than BN.

By now you should know that the reason for the component parties' devastation in the 12th GE was primarily because the minorities felt that their leaders failed to represent and voice out the discontent of the people. This in turn effected the rise of the elite UMNO and their racial policies. Just to illustrate, when the Keris was raised, those who mumbled and grumbled a bit, were seen in the next days papers, smiling and shaking hands, with the keris wielding leader who today unfortunately still sits in cabinet, while the rest of us were furious and feared our very future in this nation.

To your question on who will represent the Indians, there are enough Indians in Parliament and the State Assemblies to ensure the welfare of the Indians. Right now there is a strong Indian presence in five state governments, so to you we say we have sufficient representation of Indians in whom we have placed our trust and confidence.

For the development of respective Arts and Culture, there should not be a problem to initiate societies and associations for the promotion of language, literature, culture, arts, music and dance.

It is timely that big industrialists and entrepreneurs come forward to develop, train and mentor the younger generation. I am equally sure that you should not have a problem with your expertise and being a person of influence to establish ways to promote economic growth of marginalised and deserving Malaysians irrespective of race or religion.

To Samy Velu, who today said "who will represent the Indians"? Go and seek penance in Kasi and prepare yourself to meet your maker, your end is nearing. Be sure you have answers for your bad performance and your major role in the making of a powerful opposition, for certain, they have already thanked you for this. Meditate how your devious actions led to the sad demise of MIC. By raising the tolls, in amassing huge amounts of wealth. We ofcourse in the elections did not forget how the Hindraf assemblers were treated at Batu Caves and we gave you the answer by booting you out. Be gone. You have negated all the the efforts and the good done by the early founders of MIC, you have dragged all their work into the stinking muck.

By the way, Dato Subramaniam and others you could earn back some semblence of respect if you could get not just the Hindraf 5 but also all other ISA detainees released. However if you wish to serve, let it be all Malaysians, not just one community, that is our sincere advice to you.

We have now reached a mature stage whereby we the people, Malays, Chinese, Indians and others will directly involve ourselves with our elected representatives to ensure that all our interests are taken care of. We have made our voice heard in this elections and we say once and for all, be gone all yea who want to encourage racism and partisan politics in Malaysia, that was once and no more shall the people let self-serving politicians divide us.

Why have you not heard our loud "NO TO RACISM, NEPOTISM, WASTEFUL EXPENDITURE AND CORRUPTION.

Right now, there are stalwarts who are true patriots, working to ensure the success of the Barisan Rakyat.

Barisan Rakyat is the only way forward for Malaysia.

Only 34 per cent of MIC study loans repaid

Prof Datuk Dr T. Marimuthu (second from right) presenting a study loan cheque to K. Chanthirika. With them at the MIC headquarters in Jalan Rahmat are MIED chief executive officer P. Chitrakala Vasu (right) and other loan recipients.

KUALA LUMPUR: The MIC is tightening procedures in awarding study loans as only 34 per cent of the RM86 million disbursed has been repaid.
The loans were provided through the MIC's educational flagship, the Maju Institute of Educational Development (MIED), to more than 8,000 students since 1984.

MIED director Prof Datuk Dr T. Marimuthu said legal action had been instituted against 2,000 defaulters, of which judgment had been obtained against 200 of them.

He said the defaulters either could not be traced owing to a change of address or could not afford to repay the loans upon completion of their studies.

Marimuthu said the defaulters and their guarantors were also blacklisted, preventing them from obtaining loans from other sources.
"Since October, we have restructured the loan programme to allocate funds on a yearly basis rather than for the whole duration of the course.

"If a student pursues a three-year course, the MIED will allocate the study loan for the first year only.

"Loans for the the remaining years will be based on the student's academic performance and also with funds provided by his parents or guardians.

"Another measure is to discontinue loans of RM40,000 or more for students," he said at the presentation of RM2.7 million study loans for 289 students at the MIC headquarters in Jalan Rahmat, yesterday.

Marimuthu urged students to promptly repay their loans so as not to deprive other deserving cases.

"The non-repayment of loans has put a financial strain on the MIED which has difficulty generating funds from banks," Marimuthu added.

APA PULA ALASAN CALUN BN KAPAR ?

Pulangkan tanah kami sebelum 8 Mac...

"Jumlahnya mencecah ribuan pengundi. Ini pastinya akan memberi kesan kepada undi BN jika mereka tidak menyelesaikan masalah ini sebelum pilihanraya 8 Mac ini," tegas Vella.

MIC BERI AMARAN PADA KAUM INDIA

'Terimalah padahnya' jika tolak MIC
malaysiakini

'MIC Youth head owes me RM500,000'

vickneswaran house scandal rameswree 160208 frontby Malaysiakini,

A businesswoman has accused MIC Youth chief SA Vigneswaran of breaching a sales agreement with her and withholding more than RM500,000 of her money.

D Ramaswree, 43, also claimed that he had fraudulently signed a document using her signature to enter into another agreement.

She now wants MIC president S Samy Vellu to drop him from the party’s list of candidates for the general election on March 8.

Vigneswaran is the incumbent in the Kota Raja parliamentary seat in Selangor. In 2004, he polled 24,376 votes to beat Dr Mariah Mahmud of PAS by 8,239 votes, in a three-way tussle fight that also involved Independent T Krisnasami.

"He should not be allowed to contest (in the next polls on March 8). How can he contest for the post of member of Parliament when he is dishonest?" she asked.

Ramaswree, who runs a human resources agency, said she had asked the MP on numerous occasions to repay the money but that he has continued to ignore her.

As a last resort, she filed a suit against Vigneswaran on Feb 1, seeking the return of her money.

She has also written to Samy Vellu and Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, explaining her predicament.

"I have spoken to Samy Vellu before this and told him everything. So far no action has been taken against him," she told Malaysiakini.

"And it looks like he will be allowed by the party to (defend) his seat for this election. He should not be allowed to contest."

House deal gone wrong

Explaining the source of the problem, Ramaswree said she had agreed to purchase Vigneswaran’s house in Klang for RM1.3 million in 2005.

"I gave to him RM665,713 as part-payment but he suddenly cancelled the agreement to sell the property," she said.

He then returned RM150,000, leaving a balance of RM515,713 to be paid.

"Despite several requests and written reminders, he has ignored me or refused to pay me back," she said.

She also claimed that he had forged her signature to state that she had agreed to re-sell the house to him for RM1 million.

"This is totally untrue. I have even lodged a police report over this false document," she said.

Vigneswaran was not available for comment but his aide said the politician would not want to comment the matter as it is pending in court.

"And we think she is backed by someone as a last-minute attempt to derail our MP’s chance of being nominated for the seat," he added.

BUTTERWORTH: MIC president Datuk Seri S. Samy Vellu went through a harrowing experience last night when some 100 people blocked his car and demanded the release of Hindu Rights Action Force (Hindraf) protesters detained at an illegal rally in Kuala Lumpur yesterday.

The crowd surrounded and banged his car as he was leaving SRJK (C) Chung Hwa 3 in Prai here after attending a function at 9pm.

The works minister was earlier escorted to the car after a mob started to jeer him. More...

"Cukai kena bayar, tapi sekolah macam kandang kambing" .... begitu lah kata mereka.

Nampaknya kemarahan kamun India menjadi jadi. Kalau berani ..... MIC dan wakilnya kena turun la.....Ingat tu..23hb Februari 2008. Tarikh yang sama perhimpunan BERSIH. Keadaan menjadi bertambah menarik .... Kita lihat siapa yang tidak senang duduk.

SAKSI PERHIMPUNAN MIC

MIC's 'An Evening With the PM' - EyeWitness Account
surind.blogspot.
Nanda was at MIC's 'An evening with the PM' at the Stadium Badminton in Cheras yesterday.

He sent in an excellent account of the event. I've reproduced the same below.

Thanks, Nanda & Haris
_______________________________

I took the Putra LRT from KLCC to Masjid Jamek and then Star LRT from Masjid Jamek to Maluri. There was significant difference this time when I was in the lrt, it was nothing like 25th November 2007 on Hindraf rally. Somehow, apart from myself, I couldn't identify anyone else heading to where I was going.

1415H - Arrived at the Cheras Badminton Stadium. I saw a couple of school buses parked in front and people getting down from the bus. An MIC member wearing a tag identifying himself as one of the people in charge of security began to address the people getting down from the bus to obtain tags as they will not be allowed to enter without the tags. Got one for myself and lingered around the entrance. Red carpet being unrolled by some youngsters, a group of traditional Indian drum players were at sight and went over to talk to them. Friendly chap, said he's from Ampang, different groups all called by the MIC to come and escort the arrival of PM with their music. Smiled kindda knowingly as he saw me with notepad in my hands.

They had security checks at the entrance. Cops were holding metal detectors but somehow not that stringent I would say. However, they made the participants leave their water bottles outside, similar to when we're boarding an international flight.

A few more buses arrive. Few more people came down. A group of elderly, older than my grandma, stepped down from the bus and proceeded slowly to the stadium. I went in as well.

1430H - Went in. People handing out car stickers. A guy handed out a questionnaire. Took one for the purpose of sharing with everyone. Looked for a place somewhat in the middle of the hall.

There was a live band or sort of it. 2 well known Malaysian Indian singers (though I don't know who these people are) were singing songs from 60's. Somehow this performance was irritating and was getting on my nerves. They kept singing songs by the late MGR and his songs are known for their moral contents especially patriotic ones. One guy dressed up like MGR and started walking around the stadium and doing some antics. At least it entertained a few elderly but somehow many did not appreciate this. It somehow reflects the perception of MIC towards the people that would be attending. That the people can still find 60's MGR song meaningful and the fact that there was this guy acting like him would somehow rekindle patriotic sentiments. Perhaps rekindle may be inaccurate as it suggests the feeling was gone at some point which I don't believe is true.

People sat down filling in the questionnaire. The lady behind me had to translate the questionnaire in order for some of the people to understand it. Not only that, I saw a guy changing his/someone's initial response to the response that the government would like in the questionnaire

The singing was accompanied with praises for Samy Velu. The singers even incorporated these praises into their songs. In the stadium, I saw 7 different banners and they read:

  1. Kaum India menyokong penuh Parti Barisan Nasional. Hidup BN
  2. Dato' Seri Samy Velu, Teruskan Perjuangan Bersama Pak Lah
  3. Kami Menyokong Penuh Kepimpinan Pak Lah. We love U Pak Lah
  4. Kami Mendoakan Pilihan Raya Umum Kali ke-12 menjadi milik penuh BN
  5. Kami berdiri teguh di belakang YB Dato' Seri S. Samy Velu
  6. Terima Kasih Pak Lah
  7. Thank You Pak Lah

Spoke to the gentleman sitting next to me. He said he's from Sepang, a group of them came from there. He's an MIC division head. Somehow doesn't agree with what's happening, I presume, he kept telling me they are treating the whole thing like some joke or something of that sort (referring to the antics of the MGR). Asked him, what is the entire program all about, will there be a Q&A session ala forum? He said definitely not. If there's Q&A and we are allowed to speak, things will turn out differently, he said with a smile. Somehow this guy can sense the general feeling among Indians but yet he's there I believe because of his post.

1500H - Samy Velu arrives, waves at the crowd. Some applause, but most were indifferent. Then he went out to wait for Pak Lah I believe.

The acting MGR chose this time to sing 'ask not what the country did for you, but rather ask what you did for your country'

All these acts in my opinion are targeted to woo the elderly. I can see some apparent disgusted look on some youngsters. These MIC people were unashamedly singing praises for Samy Velu, which somehow made me feel they may need to reassure themselves actually and that's why they keep repeatedly proclaim the greatness of Samy Velu and Pak Lah.

Posters of Sharlinie were handed out. Somehow puts some perspective on the state of affairs in our country. I need not say more.

1620H - Heard the traditional drum sound. Pak Lah must have arrived. Crowd stood up. The crowd was standing for almost 5 minutes. Pak Lah took his seat and the MC started the greetings. Among the VIPs present were Pak Lah and his wife, Samy Velu, Dato' Saravanan, Dato' Sharizat and Dato Zulhasnan Rafiq.

The number of people present in the stadium based on my estimation by counting and multiplying the rows of chairs earlier is about 6000. Earlier I mentioned to Haris it may be 8,000 to 10,000 but nope, I was wrong. The entire group in that stadium is not as large as the Hindraf group that was gathered in the Jalan Ampang stretch in front of Zouk and Restoran Saloma. Nope. If we see a different number in MSM, well, that's what we expect they'd say anyways.

First speech was by Dato' Saravanan. He started of by saying he was appointed with a difficult task which was to get the Indians to gather 3 days before Thaipusam but the crowd sitting in front of him was the proof of unwavering total support for BN. In Tamil language, he said the crowd is the proof of support for Samy Velu. He pledged his support for Samy Velu and then asked the crowd to stand up and give a round of applause which was heeded enthusiastically only by some. The rest seem indifferent.

This was followed by the Upacara Pengkalungan Bunga. Samy Velu to Pak Lah. Saravanan to Samy Velu. Chandrasegaran to Zulhasan.

Then Samy Velu was invited to give a speech. Again, lukewarm response from the crowd.

'Perjumpaan ini adalah perjumpaan yang unik.. Untuk mendengar amanat dan nasihat dari Perdana Menteri kita, Pak Lah'. That was in the opening paragraph of his speech. He continued to rain praises for Pak Lah proclaiming Pak Lah is the true leader for all Malaysians. I qoute ' telinga beliau sentiasa terbuka'.

He went on to explain that MIC has always championed the Indian cause and he always speaks regarding the issues of the Malaysian Indians to Pak Lah in cabinet meetings.

Speaking in Tamil language, Samy went on to go back in history where he said the Indians were brought in and they planted rubber and made the nation rich but at that time the Brits exploited them. 'At that time,' Samy said,' We cannot speak up, else, we'll be caught by the Brits.' At this juncture, I would have loved to ask, how is it different with present time? How do you answer to the family of the 75 people presently detained under the Internal Security Act?

Anyway, Samy went on to proclaim that the Indians have always been loyal and faithful to the BN since Perikatan Days. He said MIC is an invaluable friend for UMNO. He said, he acknowledges that there are some weakness but they are working on it. At this point, Pak Lah was asleep and was slowly woken up by his wife's voice I believe. Samy Velu then went on to say,'MIC machinery is ready! Tentera MIC sudah siap sedia! Hanya tunggu senjata!' I leave it to you to decide what does 'senjata' refer to in this statement. Samy said 'Kita mahu hapuskan semua parti pembangkang.'

Samy took a few potshots at Hindraf. He didn't mention the word Hindraf at all but one can make sense of whom he was referring to. Claiming MIC is ready to meet challenges upfront, likening Hindraf's actions akin to stabbing from the back. He went on to again proclaim as though Pak Lah was the only saviour of the Malaysian Indian community. He mentioned that not only Indians are struggling but everyone is struggling. 300 million was given by government to look into the conditions of Tamil Schools, he said. Nothing mentioned regarding the demolition of temples.

Samy said he's been travelling till 1 or 2am for the past weeks meeting up with people from all walks of life. Youths and elderly alike. He challenged and said ,'only MIC! Who other than MIC?! No one can serve the Indian community other than BN and MIC.' He sang a portion of an old song urging everyone to be united.

He thanked the crowd and again sang praises for PM. Then asked crowd to stand up and clap for PM. They chanted hidup Pak Lah but only a few rows from the middle segment of the stadium stood up. The rest remained seated indifferently.

MC took over and said 'Malaysia Boleh! UMNO Boleh! BN Boleh!' which is kindda confusing to me as to what made the MC say UMNO boleh. Why UMNO? How is it relevant in the context of today's meeting? Is MIC equating UMNO to BN and UMNO to Government? I don't know, you tell me.

MC invited PM to speak. Again, only about 10 rows of people from the middle segment stood up despite the urging by the MIC security personnel. The rest didn't bother to stand or clap for that matter.

Pak Lah started by proclaiming that MIC is a friend of UMNO. He pledged if MIC has any problems, UMNO would definitely lend a hand. Pak Lah said he's really happy with the turnout and that this was the MIC's largest gathering. He recap the history of MIC and UMNO who are partners since the Perikatan days. Pak Lah said his cabinet never decides on anything unless it was agreed by all the members. If there's a single person not agreeing they will discuss again. Note that for disagreeing, he didn't mention anything regarding Party whip.

Pak Lah strongly claimed that Samy has been fighting for the Indians in the cabinet.

Pak Lah said we have managed to improve the status of poverty but there are still hardcore poverty among all the races. 'Kita bukan negara maju lagi, kita masih sedang membangun, kita belum maju.' 'Satu janji kerajaan BN adalah kita mesti menghapuskan kemiskinan tegar di kalangan semua rakyat tanpa mengira bangsa menjelang 2010.' Pak Lah pledged, 'Saya akan tubuhkan satu parti, satu jabatan dalam kabinet saya untuk menghapuskan kemiskinan tegar.'

Pak Lah said about the free school fees which brought some murmurs among the people in the crowd because he did not even touch on the rude surprise that parents faced when they thought the fees are free but yet they are imposed with some amount of money and the reaction from Hishamuddin which was too defensive and not befitting a minister. No mention about all these and no explanation. Just a statement that fees are free which in my humble opinion is not the entire truth.

Pak Lah went to announce that Thaipusam has been declared Public Holiday in Federal Territory. Note the magnitude of applause for this statement as compared to all the others in the video.

Pak Lah continued for a few minutes about the importance to help government and support the government. He thanked the people for their support and then ended his speech.

Upon the end of Pak Lah's speech, some people stood up, the rest remained indifferent and then the MC announced the event is over and everybody started to walk out of the hall.

Again, I saw the elderly ladies, older than my grandma walking slowly. I can't help pondering, is it justified in the eyes of the organisers to bring these people, some people who are ill informed on the actual state of affairs make them forgo an entire day from the total remaining days of their lives for the sake of putting this up?The grandma may not even have understood what Pak Lah said. And the abruptness to which these people are forgotten makes me sick. For right after Pak Lah said thank you and left, everyone just wanted to see him off properly and the rest of the people in the hall are slowly trickling away to their buses to head back. And that's it, mission accomplished, all nice and pretty for the Premier and Samy, now you guys can go back and do whatever you want, we don't wanna know about it anymore.

I walked away.

MIC college (TAFE) cheated me

MIC college (TAFE) cheated me - So called Education for Indians...eemm

Source : Malaysiakini

A MIC-run community college has been accused of misleading its students by not revealing that one of its popular degree programmes is not recognised by the government.

A former top student of the Tafe College in Seremban said that the college’s failure to disclose the status of its programme have spoilt the future of many students.

Perak-born CS Nachimani told Malaysiakini that he was not told that the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (a government agency formerly known as National Accreditation Board or LAN) had not approved or accredited the Bachelor of Engineering (Electronics System Design Engineering) degree which he pursued at Tafe.

“When I enlisted to do my degree at Tafe College in 1998, I was told that the approval was pending.

“After that not once the students were told that the approval or accreditation was rejected by LAN,” said 29-year-old Nachimani who graduated in 2002. The electrical engineering programme which he did was a twinning programme with UK-based -Northumbria University.

He claimed that there were about 150 students in his batch who were all in the same situation now.

“When I first joined Tafe and asked about the LAN approval, their response was that there would be no problems in getting the approval as it is a minister’s college,” he said.

The college, a brainchild of MIC president S Samy Vellu, is owned by the party, ostensibly to cater for the vocational educational needs of the Indian community. Samy Vellu is also the works minister.

College washes hands

Nachimani, who aced his degree examinations, was always a top scorer in his class. His lecturers thought highly of him and predicted that he would go places in his careers.

He has even published two electrical engineering theories in a UK-based trade magazine, and has a patent registered for one of the theories.

“But what’s the point. I am without a job now. If I had known the degree which I did with Tafe was not recognised by the government, I would have surely gone to study elsewhere,” he said.

He added that his problems only started when he applied to join a major educational institution as a lecturer about two years ago.

“Even since I graduated in 2002, I had lectured in smaller colleges to gain experience. And then a few years later I applied to one of the bigger ones and they told me that my degree was not recognised.”

He immediately approached his former college for clarification and was merely told off that they had failed to get the necessary approval.

A brief email response to him from the college administrator R Murgesu in November 2004 just told Nachimani that the course was not recognised as the course did not require students to complete any part of their course in the main university, in this case the Northumbria University.

“It means that the government would not recognise the electrical engineering course which was offered by Tafe on behalf of Northumbria locally,” explained Nachimani.

No help from Samy Vellu

When contacted by Malaysiakini, a spokesperson for Tafe College told that a change in government policy meant that the college had to stop offering Northumbria’s electrical engineering course.

At present the college is offering electrical engineering courses from Liverpool John Moore University, allowing students to complete two years here and finish their final year of degree in Liverpool.

However this course is also pending the approval and accreditation of LAN.

“They are up to the same thing again. I doubt if they are telling students about the approval part,” said Nachimani.

When Nachimani pressed the college to solve his problem, he was directed to Samy Vellu.

“I met Samy Vellu three times. He asked me to meet his aide, whom I had met 17 times. Still there is no solution to my problem,” he added.

He said that Samy Vellu had forwarded a letter to another MIC-run college for him to be offered a job but nothing has been forthcoming.

He was also advised by Samy Vellu’s aide to pursue his post-graduate study to overcome the non-recognition aspect of his degree.

Unfortunately for him even his post-graduate study which he did via correspondence in 2006 with an American university is not recognised by the government.

“It’s a double blow for me. And to top it off, I am being hounded now for the repayment of my education loan,” he said. He is presently jobless as all potential employers want his degree to be approved by the government.

Loans being defaulted

Nachimani has obtained study loans from MIC study loan agency MIED for both his degree and post-graduate studies. Now the agency is after him for repayment. In fact he has been sent a lawyer’s notice warning him of bankruptcy proceedings if he failed to cough up total sum.

“I borrowed about RM37,000 for my studies and with interest the outstanding amount stands at RM52,582.60. Monthly repayment comes about RM620. How can I repay when I have no work?” he asked.

He said that wherever he turned for help - from Tafe college to MIED, the only response he got was to go to Samy Vellu.

“But he has been unable to help me,” said an exasperated Nachimani. Samy Vellu could not be contacted for comment today.

“I have been cheated by Tafe. The college did not tell me and the other students the truth and they should correct their mistake.

“I want MIC, its president Samy Vellu and the college to come out with a solution for me. I am not going to be made a bankrupt for something which was not my mistake.

“I want my life back,” said Nachimani.

An Attempt To Cover Up Improprieties In Maika Holdings

Attack On M. Kulasegaran By Johor MIC Assemblyman An Attempt To Cover Up Improprieties In Maika Holdings And Silence Voices Of Shareholders Seeking The Truth

Media Statement; by Lim Guan Eng; (01/11/2006)
(Petaling Jaya, Wednesday): DAP unreservedly condemns the irresponsible, illegal and violently unacceptable behaviour of Johor State Assemblyman for Tenggarah Datuk S. Krishnasamy in attacking DAP National Vice-Chair and MP for Ipoh Barat M. Kulasegaran yesterday during the Maika Holdings Bhd(Maika) Annual General Meeting(AGM). In his police report yesterday, Kula asked police to act against the Johor ADUN for elbowing Kula and pushing Kula away from the mike when Kula was speaking to the Maika AGM at Legend Hotel in Kuala Lumpur. Clearly this attack on Kula by Krishnasmy is an attempt to cover up improprieties in Maika Holdings and silence voices of shareholders seeking the truth and why their investment has not resulted in promised returns.

In trying to stifle the outcry and shut up the debate without revealing the outcome of the voting, Kula was attacked and the meeting was taken over by those displaying hooligan-like behaviour”

According to the report by Kula, “70% of the over 500 shareholders of Maika who attended the AGM had voted against the first agenda ‘to receive and adopt the Audited Financial Statements for the year ended 31 December 2005 together with reports of the directors and Auditors’. Realising that they were defeated the Chairman presiding the meeting refused to declare the results. This caused great unhappiness and dissatisfaction. In trying to stifle the outcry and shut up the debate without revealing the outcome of the voting, Kula was attacked and the meeting was taken over by those displaying hooligan-like behaviour” DAP expresses disgust at the gangster politics employed by BN parties. Apparently UMNO is not the only one to use threats to silence truth-seekers when they can not explain or justify their actions. Recently such threats were employed against Professor Dr Lim Teck Ghee for being seditious in making conclusions from his academic research that the NEP 30% target for corporate bumi equity has been exceeded based on calculation of market value.

Similar violent tactics were employed by supporters of Port Klang ADUN and Majlis Perbandaran Klang Councillor Datuk Zakaria Md Deros when the public went to his palatial mansion on 29.10.2006. As Kulasegaran said, such violent tactics has no place in our Malaysia political culture.
Further violence would not silence ordinary Indians who demand answers why their hard-earned money invested in Maika has not generated returns. MIC President Datuk S. Samy Vellu has a moral obligation and duty to the Indian community to explain the Maika shareholders the value of the investments.

He must also condemn and disassociate MIC and himself from the gangster tactics employed by Datuk Krishnasmy as not only shameful to MIC but also to all Malaysians. Any failure to condemn Krishnasamy and explain to Maika shareholders would only confirm suspicions that MIC is trying to cover up the real truth of what has gone wrong in investments in Maika Holdings. DAP views this incident seriously and expects the police not to be affected by any politicial interference in investigating this incident. Should the police fail to take action then the matter would be pursued further for no one is above the law and even State Assemblyman do not have the right to assault people. |more...|

GATHERING BN STYLE

RM 200 & 1000 - The price for Indians Posted by Vineeth Menon
doi-moi.blogspot.

MIC Kedah has offered RM200 for each individual and RM1000 for a car full with passenger.

20 Jan 08 almost after two months, Indians decided to stand united on Hindraf platform, Mr.Semi Velue, who was under greater pressure decided to call a MIC gathering in Cheras. But the gathering will be totally different coz the Prime Minister and Deputy PM have been invited as guest of honour.

The major objective of the gathering is to show that Mr.Semi still has support from the Indians. To gather the crowd, he decided to spend millions of his “black money” as a crowd puller for the gathering. Source said, MIC Kedah has offered RM200 for each individual and RM1000 for a car full with passenger.

But the bigger problem now, although the offer was high, people in Kedah still rejected it and even the bus operator refuse to drive their bus full loaded with MIC bigots to Cheras on that day. Any how I do believe, the gathering will go on as plan otherwise it will be a triple shame for MIC and his ineffective Mr.Semi Value but it’s still a greater shame for him coz he will only manage to gather the Indian by bribing them and they will go with half hearted. Many might not go after they receive the money.

So Indian Makkal, if MIC bigots offer you less than RM200 for individual and less than RM1000 for a full passenger of car then, you should demand more and I do believe you know what to do after you receive the money.
