BN, Enough is just too much
aliran
Barisan, you told me before and you keep telling me again and again that you are the best party to rule this country. You have always coaxed the electorate to give you a two-thirds majority in Parliament. You keep telling us that you will transform Malaysia into “negara cemerlang”. The electorate has believed you and trusted you.
You promised ...
* to defend the Federal Constitution but it has proved to be an empty promise. The Barisan has treated the Constitution as a mere piece of paper to be trampled upon. Just imagine, in the last fifty years the Constitution has been amended six hundred times, resulting in the loss of many precious provisions safeguarding the country’s secular democratic status, civil rights and liberties, religious freedom, rule of law, independence of the judiciary etc. You have converted a secular democracy into an “Islamic” state though the Constitution does not mention the word “Muslim” even once! You trampled upon the 20-point Sabah Agreement. Frankly, would Sabah and Sarawak have joined Malaysia if it was an “Islamic” state?
* to build a participatory democracy and yet local council elections remain suspended — the main reason being the fear that non-Malays will gain control of town and city councils. This in actual fact means that non-Malays are seen fit to vote in the general elections but not in local government elections. The lopsided rural/urban weightage in terms of voter strength ensures your unfair grip on paper. The Election Commission’s method of delineating constituencies ensures your political survival. Just ask what happened to the many Kadazan-majority constituencies in Sabah?
* to wipe out corruption - but corruption at all levels of the civil service and government is forever galloping. The ACA, under the control of the government, is a joke! Just imagine the ACA cleared Muhammad Taib, the currency smuggler, Judge Eusoff Chin and Zakaria of Klang of any wrong-doing. And now it is alleged that the ACA indulged in a serious corrupt practice by buying the silence of a clerk to close a criminal case because political bigwigs were involved. The Auditor-General’s Report contains many examples of corrupt practices like the set of RM40 screwdrivers supplied at RM224! Negotiated contracts at absurdly inflated prices — to ensure lucrative kickbacks — have enriched contract-awarding authorities at all levels of government. In 2007, our Transparency Index (TI) stood at 44; Corruption Perception Index (CPI) stood at 30. You are not serious about fighting corruption. You have refused to appoint an Ombudsman. Why? Neither have you set up a public register for civil servants and politicians to declare their income and assets.
* to ensure national unity but your actions go contrary to what is required to build a united nation. Islamo-fascism has permeated every level of government — only one ethnic group and one religion is important. Every objection, however trivial, by Muslims holds sway. The Kuan Yim statue in Ayer Itam, Penang, was shortened. The Catholic Church in Shah Alam, though approved by the Council, was given a stop-work order. Hindu temples and churches for Orang Asli have been destroyed on the grounds that they were illegal constructions. (What about Zakaria’s mansion in Klang?). The Hindu temple in Kg. Rawa, Penang, was relocated. You talk of respecting the sensitivities of various ethnic groups. You allow the slaughter of cows in the compound of Parliament House. You talk of give-and-take but who is giving and who is taking?
* to be fair to all ethnic groups in your recruitment policies for the civil service but Islamo-fascism has ensured mono-ethnic control of the civil service — education, police, the army, navy and air force, town and city councils etc. You give the reason that the non-Malays are not interested to join the civil service, army etc. Letters in the media of unsuccessful applicants speak otherwise.
* for a start, to recruit people based on merit — the mere mention of this word is bound to drive recruiters into a paroxym of fear and epilepsy! Constitute interview boards which comprise 50 per cent non-Malays. If the criteria for selection for the police and armed forces is rotten, the country is in danger of having low calibre men with high calibre weapons. A non-Malay applicant for a civil service job was asked to name the first Agong together with his full awards! It has not occurred to both the MCA and MIC to set up a database and encourage every applicant for a government job, scholarships, promotion posts to punch in so that they will have correct statistics of applicants, the success rate, the failure rate etc. The MCA and MIC claim to look after the interests of the community they represent but their failure is patent to all.
* to ensure that our education system is dynamic, liberal and progressive. The quality of education provided at all levels — primary, secondary and university is very low. Policies coloured by Islamo-fascism has ensured literally, total mono-ethnic control of education. The non-Malays have all been wiped out in important jobs — no non-Malay directors in the various divisions of the Ministry of Education, no non-Malay Vice-Chancellors in any of the 23 public universities, out of 92 deputy Vice-Chancellors only one is a non-Malay, no non-Malay is a State Director of Education, the same of District Education Officers. Zaid Ibrahim, UMNO MP for Kota Baru, in a recent interview said that “education is an absolute disaster” in Malaysia. He further commented that racism runs deep in our country and this is clearly the case with the Ministry of Education. The UN Report on education clearly expresses a serious concern of the poor quality of education in Malaysia, which is bound to be sidelined in a highly competitive globalised world. The public universities keep crowing that they are centres of education excellence and demand better grants. Keris-kisser Hishamuddin believes that more money pumped into education at all levels will improve quality. A Malay academic at the public university where I worked exclaimed in bitter frustration that one cannot turn donkeys into race horses. The THES-QS World University Rankings tell the truth: UM stands at 246, UKM at 309, UPM at 364 and USM at 307.
* to create a safe environment but the crime rates — murder, rape, kidnap, robbery, snatch-thefts, burglary etc. — are frighteningly high. The government statistics are just the tip of the iceberg as people do not bother to report crimes because of the “tidak apa”and “macam biasa” attitude of the police. A correspondent to a local newspaper made an impassioned plea not to deny her a normal life. Women are frightened to walk on our streets. They dare not carry handbags or even wear ear-rings, let alone chains and bangles.
The price of food has risen dramatically and petrol price hikes and increased tolls have further burdened the people and damaged the quality of life.
* to protect the environment but the Mentris Besar/Chief Ministers together with their Excos have destroyed the environment in the name of so-called progress and development. They in actual fact have severely harmed our survival. Under the slightest excuse of a threat to national security, people have been locked up under the ISA. National survival is more important than national security because if you do not survive there would be no need for national security. Out of 141 countries surveyed, Malaysia’s position with regard to the following is thus:
Air quality 79, water 47, environmental health 40. Overall 54.
* to build a caring society. Look at the problems experienced by senior citizens with health problems. They are denied the drugs they need to survive and the indignity and suffering they go through are pitiable. In Australia, a senior citizen gets a month’s supply of Zocor at $A3.70 cents (about RM11). That is a caring society.
* The youth who commence work are in an unenviable position. A rotten public transport system and malfunctioning public telephones force them to buy a car and a handphone. Prices of cars in Malaysia are the second highest in the world! In addition to this they need a credit card. Board and lodging costs are high. So they fall into the credit card trap. Many young people have been declared bankrupt. When will these people be able to save enough to buy a flat, get married and start a family? Does anybody care for them?
Dear Barisan, I am thinking whether any other political party could have done worse. The people of Malaysia I hope will be thinking too.
Enough.

Malaysia’s Islamic theme park fails to impress
BY FARISH A. NOOR (Asian Edge)
khaleejtimes.
THE merry-go-round is painted in bright hues of pink, yellow, green and blue; the slides and rides shine in the sun as the little girl contemplates which of the two plastic horses to mount first. Her mother sits by the swing in the near distance, her eye firmly fixed on the pride of five boys and girls frolicking around the sand pit and climbing ropes.
It would appear like any other children’s playground in any other suburban setting, save for the fact that the plastic palm trees are there to lend the place a somewhat exotic, middle-eastern feel to it: Welcome to the kiddies playground in the Islamic Civilisation theme park, one of the latest innovations bestowed upon the people of the state of Trengganu in Malaysia, as part and parcel of the Malaysian government’s attempt to promote its brand of Islam Hadari (Civilisational Islam). The banner that hangs in front of the visitors complex carries the image of Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi and the slogan: “Thank you for bringing Islamic civilisation to Trengganu”. (Though one would have thought that the Muslims there were already civilised long before…)
Other attractions to the park include model replicas of famous mosques from around the world: As one drives through the main entrance the first sight that greets you is a replica of the Dome of the Rock in Jerusalem, save that this model is diminutive in scale and ambition; and that the gilded dome gives the uncanny impression that it is made of gold-painted plastic instead. I asked the construction worker how long it will take for the park to be completed, but he could not understand me as he only spoke Bengali.
Right at the end of the park stands the so-called ‘crystal mosque’ that is meant to be the main attraction of the theme park; save that the mosque is not made of crystal, but rather sheets of glass that line its domes and minarets. A crowd of Malay women meander around the floating mosque complex and laze about indifferently. I ask them where they are from and why they are here. One of them answers me in Kelantanese dialect: “We are from Kuala Lumpur and heading to Kelantan to vote”. I ask her if she and her friends are impressed by the crystal mosque. “It’s pretty, like a crystal toy. But it also looks a bit plastic to me. Is it finished yet?”
It is election season and the flag and poster war is being fought in earnest: The streets of Besut, Marang, Kuala Trengganu are lined with hundreds of posters and banners proclaiming the achievements of the ruling UMNO party and the leadership of Prime Minister Badawi. Since he came to power in 2004, Badawi has pushed ahead with his agenda of inculcating the values of Islam Hadari – said to be an approach to Islam that is moderate, pluralist and progressive – to win the hearts and minds of Malaysia’s Malay-Muslim voters in particular.
The state of Trengganu where the opposition Pan-Malaysian Islamic Party (PAS) is strong is certainly a key state in the election, and here the election campaign has returned to the old ways of the past, with both UMNO and PAS claiming to be more Islamic than the other. The UMNO banners proclaim that over the past two years alone the UMNO government in Trengganu has built 62 mosques all over the state. (A boast that has gained the state government a place in the Malaysian book of records, no less.)
PAS on the other hand retaliates by noting that the instances of absolute poverty in Trengganu is higher now than ever before, and that building mosques will not feed the stomachs of the people or give them a better future. Right in front of the main entrance to the Islamic Civilisation theme park, the Islamists of PAS have erected a banner that reads: “250 Million Ringgit for a Mosque built for Tourists: What for?”
While the tone and tenor of the election campaign on the more urbanised, multiracial states of the west coast reflect the concerns of the urban middle-classes, here on the northeast coast of Malaysia another election is being fought altogether. The leaders of UMNO and PAS continue doing what they do best, which is to assume the holier-than-thou posture beloved by Islamists and conservatives. UMNO claims that thousands of children below the age of eight have read and memorised the Quran in Trengganu thanks to the efforts of Badawi’s Islam Hadari programme. PAS in turn responds by noting the cases of drug abuse, violence, prostitution and casual sex among the young of the state at the same time. Neither side really talks about the issue of democracy, human rights or an election campaign that is free, fair and transparent for all to see.
The few exceptions to the rule seem to come from the younger leaders of PAS who are more reformist-minded and policy oriented. In the state capital of Kuala Trengganu the PAS firebrand Mohammad Sabu goes round the local market and fishing villages calling for the return of democracy and the right to equal development: For once, the common slogans of Islam, Shariah and Hudud laws are not mentioned. But such attempts at injecting some degree of political education into the campaign are few and far between, and sadly the election campaign that has been fought in the predominantly Malay-Muslim states of the Northeast reflect the same parochial concerns of the 1980s and 1990s, with a more than a little hint of communitarianism thrown into the bargain.
One wonders to what extent the campaign in Trengganu and the other Malay states has really been shaped and informed by the Civilisational Islam project of Prime Minister Badawi. Thus far little effort seems to have been made to civilise the conduct of the campaign, or to introduce ideas and themes that are really modern and progressive. With only a few days to go before the votes are cast on March 8, the Election Commission then announced that it will drop the idea of using indelible ink to mark the hands of voters, to ensure that fake votes are not cast. How such irregularities can be reconciled with the glittering empty mosque in the vacant theme park is anyone’s guess.

NAMA SUDAH DIGUNAKAN UNTUK UNDI
Penjual ikan terkejut didakwa sudah mengundi
mstar

Jam 6.26 ptg .... menanti satu penyiksaan.
Kalau tiada beruk masakan pokok bergoyang.
Hati bertanya tanya apakah berita yang terbaharu. Di internet seperti sudah tiada berita. Mahu cari dimana lagi? Kalau di TV semuanya masih menyebelahi BN parti Barua Negara. Meluat nak tengok, macam tak der cerita lain.
Selagi belum selesai mengira undi, hati berdetup detap.

Pengundi Desa Mentari Kelana Jaya Dikepung FRU

DEAD BUT AN ACTIVE VOTER
malaysiakini
Palasupiramaniam s/o Vaithalingam died in 1980 at the age of 48. But somehow, his identity card number shows that he is still an active voter.
This was discovered by Palasupiramaniam's son, who wanted to be known as Welly, who checked his father’s IC number against the voters’ list.
“Since I've been hearing a lot about all sorts of hanky panky and phantom voters on the election, I decided to check on my father's IC number at the Suruhanjaya Pilihanraya website.”
“Everything was the same - the address, date of birth and even the polling stream. The only thing that was different is the slight change to my late father's name. It was Palasubiramaniam, instead of Palasupiramaniam.”
Palasupiramaniam's status showed that he was an active voter and fell under the Segambut parliamentary seat. His polling station is at Sekolah Kebangsaan Dhandayuthapani, Jalan Ipoh.
The deceased's 40-year old son checked the website last week and saw the discrepancy. When he spoke about it to some friends, they told him to close one eye.
“I couldn't do that, so I decided to wait for today (election day) and alerted the EC officers today with my father's IC and a photocopy of his death certificate.”
The EC officers agreed and acknowledged that the person with the IC number was deceased and will not allow anyone with that particular IC number to vote.
As there was no JPN confirmation, the EC officers assured Welly that his late father's voting status will be non-active by the next election.
At the time of Welly lodging the report to the EC officers at 1pm today, no one with his father's IC number had turned up to vote using the IC number.
Impostor can be jailed
It has been rumoured that phantom voters tend to turn up closer to the end of voting hours.
Under Section 7 of the Election Offences Act 1954 “every person who at an election applies for a ballot paper in the name of some other person, whether that name be that of a person living or dead, applies at the same election for a ballot paper in his own name, shall be guilty of the offense of personation.”
What will happen to the impostor should he turn up with Palasupiramaniam's IC number at the polling station?
“First and foremost, the impostor will undergo the entire process of voting, right down to marking the ballot paper. The officer may then protest to the presiding officer inside the stream,” said the chairperson of polls watchdog Mafrel Abd Malek Hussin.
“It will be at the discretion of the presiding officer to decide if the vote is valid or otherwise. Once proven that the voter is an impostor, he can be put under arrest.”
Upon a guilty conviction, the impostor is liable to an imprisonment not exceeding two years and a fine of up to RM5,000.00.
The parliamentary seat for Segambut witnesses a straight fight between Gerakan's Ma Woei Chyi and DAP's Lim Lip Eng. The voters are made up of 36.3 percent Malays, 51.8 percent Chinese, 11.6 percent Indian and 0.4 percent of other races.

Lutfi Othman kecewa dan koyak kertas undi
Ketua Pengarang Harakah koyak kertas undi, protes pada SPR
harakahdaily.net
Azamin Amin

563 postal voters found registered in two places.
Computer programmer Ong Guan Sin, 37, was intrigued when he heard that some postal voters on the electoral rolls are registered in two different constituencies.
So he decided to put his expertise to work.
Ong, who described himself as a concerned citizen, developed a programme which could determine whether the Election Commission’s (EC) online database of postal voters are registered in two places.
He obtained 563 randomly selected military identification numbers from the EC and run them through his programme.
Postal voting is presently restricted to military troops, policemen and teachers who are based far away from their constituencies.
What Ong found shocked him. Almost half of them have 'twin' voters registered in another parliamentary constituency
Ong said that a total of 278, or 49.3 percent, of the 563 postal voters are registered in two different constituencies.
While the original voters and their twins share the name , their military identity card number is slightly different, where all had an additional '0' in their original six-digit IC number.
So too are the constituencies they are to vote.
In most instances, the year of birth of the voters are identical. In some other instances, however, they were different.
While the added numeral ‘0' may at first seem like a simple administrative mistake or technical glitch which could explain the duplication of the postal voters’ names, Ong however said that the parliamentary constituencies of these postal voters should not have been different. [See full list]
'Blatant effort of fraud'
A check by Malaysiakini with the EC’s online electoral roll confirmed that one Shamsuddin Jusoh, 52, of military identification number T0705196, for example, was registered to vote in the Pekan parliamentary constituency in Pahang.
Another Shamsuddin Jusoh, also 52, of military identification number T705196 was registered to vote in Setiawangsa, Kuala Lumpur.
Checks on several other postal voters’ names on the list of 563 provided by Ong were confirmed to have been repeated but registered as voters in different parliamentary constituencies.
"It is only blatant effort of fraud that can produce this," alleged the programmer when contacted today.
"Not only have they made the postal voting system intimidating and non-anonymous, they have gone one step further by doubling the postal voters," he added.
Ong urged the EC to explain the discovery of multiple registration.
On Thursday, it was reported that Malaysians for Free and Fair Elections (Mafrel) had discovered a total of 195 incidences of postal voters who have been registered several times under the same first and last names and born in the same year.
Mafrel chairperson Abdul Malek Hussein revealed that there are 46 ‘Ismail Ibrahims’ - all born in the year 1962 but registered as having different IC and living in 46 different localities - who have been registered to vote in various places throughout the country.
Similarly, 14 Ismail Jusohs, all born in the year 1966 but hold different identity card numbers (IC) and registered as living in 14 different localities, have also been slated to vote.
There may perhaps be many Ismails whose last names are also Ibrahim or Jusoh, said Malek.
"(But) that’s why we need mathematicians to help us come up with the (statistical) probability of male voters with same name and date of birth. What is the statistical probability of that?" he asked.
"We’re not saying all these Ismail Ibrahims are the same person. We’re just saying this is an issue that (leads to) serious doubt," he said further.

NEW BUSINESS: SELLING BALLOT PAPER
Jobless man caught selling ballot paper
malaysiakini
A man in his 50s was nabbed in Bagan Jemal, Penang, this morning for attempting to sell his ballot paper.
At about 9am, the unemployed man (photo, man in red shirt) approached DAP volunteers at its Bagan Jemal operations centre and offered to sell them his ballot papers.
He told them that he was jobless and wanted money for the ballot paper from the SK Jalan Manjung polling station.
The man was detained by police 30 minutes later. Selling ballot papers is an offence under the Section 3 (1)(e) of the Election Offences Act 1954.
The Bagan Jemal state seat sees a straight fight between MCA’s Ooi Chuan Aik and DAP’s Lim Hock Seng (photo, left). Ooi won the seat in 2004 with a 3,337-vote majority.
Meanwhile, DAP candidate Lim discovered to his chagrin that his wife won't be voting for him.
The Bagan Jemal state seat hopeful said he found out two weeks ago that his wife, who shares the same MyKad address as him, was placed under the Bagan Dalam constituency.
According to Lim, his wife had previously voted in the Bagan Jemal constituency.
Bagan Dalam is being contested by DAP's Tanasekharan Audherapady and MIC's PK Subbaiyah.
Both the state seats fall under the Bagan parliamentary seat, contested by DAP secretary-general Lin Guan Eng.

PELAJAR KITA SUDAH TAK SELAMAT
Pekeliling Keselamatan Terkini PMRAM
kampusnegara.net
#

Tengku Adnan throws in the towel
By Little Bird
Malaysiatoday - Kawan-kawan, last night Tengku Adnan met his supporters at his bilik gerakan in Putrajaya. There were hardly ten people with him who was wearing a sarong and T-shirt. Tg Adnan is almost certain of winning the Putrajaya Parliamentary seat. But he spoke frankly to his supporters.
He said that the only good news for the BN is what the lapdogs in The Star, New Straits Times, Berita Harian and Utusan write-up in the Gomen-owned newspapers and the Gomen-owned TV and radio. Tg Adnan said that other than the fake media reports, all the feedback from the ground says that the BN is in deep shit this time around. The BN has resigned itself to the certainty that they have lost the 2/3 majority.
Now they are only waiting to see how many seats the BN will lose. Tg Adnan admits that the days where the BN had total sway over the country are over.
It is time for Malaysians to determine our own future. God will not change the fate of a people unless they change it themselves. Today our fate is in our hands. Let us change the future for the better. The time has come.

Badawi warns of Chaos and Instability!!
oldfart50
Election day finally arrives a little too early for me. Got up about 6.00 and with time on my hand decided to turn on the idiot box, to RTM2 infact and learnt a bit about my prostrate. But I couldn't take it anymore after a while when it got a little gross..like bladder filing up with urine and this guy being unable to piss it out. Almost felt like I was under that agony. Channel surfed for a bit and then decided to brush teeth and wash up. Logged on to see if there was any thing new before taking a shower and dressing up and venturing out into a new world, I hope!
Decided to treat myself to a breakfast, two thosais and my kopi si kosong. Had bought the NST before that. Opened up and on the first page, I see what I thought to be generous of the NST actually. They actually are acknowledging that its my call as to where Malaysia ought to go from here. They got hope yet, I thought, as it sounded like respect for me.
Now what do they have to say about scorpions? NST had to spoil it for themselves and become Joseph Goebels award winning propaganda machine that they really are and have been for a long time, that I believe they couldn't have known better.
At the bottom left corner of the page they had a quote from Abdullah Badawi. He says "You have to vote for our future... our children. What will happen if there is chaos and instability?
Hmm...what is that supposed to be? A threat? A reminder of possibilities we ought to fear?
At one look, without the backgrounders and the total Malaysian experience, it may seem to be a tame enough statement. No threat. No reminders to anything.
However, for a bum like me with an idle mind with nothing else to do, all that is needed are prompts like this to begin to expand on it. So if you care to indulge me, you may take a ride with my idle mind that wants to probe this further.
So whats it that being Malaysian does one assume of our psyhe and make up? We know that government means a Barisan Nasional government with the leader of UMNO as its head and Prime Minister. It just cannot be any other way. A BN government means, UMNO is in control and they will have their way with everything and anything and they are a law unto themselves.
Opposition means those DAP, PAS and Keadilan types who are basically the unwelcome spoilers at the party. They are supposed to be uncouthed, unshaven, belicose, loud mouthed who just only know how to oppose. And they don't wear a tie! And after all, that is their role and doing all that. Whereas the BN politicians are supposed to be gentlemanly, after all you cannot be a Datuk or a Datuk Seri and be all those descriptives that apply to opposition politicians. And the BN MP wears aBush Jacket or a tie and suit.
Now, the Barisan Nasiaonal that is supposed to be led by UMNO in equality, so they all like to claim, with the component parties are supposed to be the know it alls who so generously give off of their time and economic opportunities to serve the people. The opposition are just a hurdle to all that is meant for the best of the people. But you see, the Barisan Nasional only knows one thing. That it has to have not less than two-thirds of the seats in parliament and of every state assembly. Anything less is just too embarssing and unacceptable. Kelantan is just not acceptable to them.
Now once every 5 years or so, in trying to be in keeping with the constitution which they have amended something like 690 times over the last 50 years, more than 20 times the times that the American constitution has been amended in over 200 years, we have general elections.
Now here, is the dichotomy. With the power to amend the constitution anytime, and with the opposition so demonised as nothing but spoilers, one has to wonder why then have the opposition. Is it not so easy as to pass the necessary amendmends to the constitution and institute laws to ban the opposition and be just a one party state? Like China maybe! Yes be a dictatorship. Can be done so easily.
But no. obviously there is something else that these guys savour more. Its not about religion or respect for the laws and constitution surely. But then again Armani and all the other fashionable clothes don't exactly sit well on Dictators and their wives do they? A dictator flying in a RM200 million jet is looked upon as a scoundrel so much so he cannot actually fly the plane anywhere. But then you get off such a plane in your Armani suits as the Prime Minister of a democratic country, it kind of all fits nicely and you have respect too. You see scoundrels too want respect. To be a Gadaffi is a hard act to follow forever. Even he fell for the trappings finally.
So do you see why they leave a legitimate and controllable opposition seemingly wondering about freely? Gives them legitimacy and certainly makes them look good. You got to remember, at that level, they are seeking approval, respect and comaraderie from a different bunch of people from the ones you see at latte land!
So now, coming back to whats on the front page of the NST. Threat, promise or a warning?
A flippant look at that statement and being the everyday Malaysian the first thing that strikes you is that you see the chaos and instability and you picture in your head Lim Kit Siang and Karpal Singh leading it. You may even have in the distance the image of Anwar and maybe even Tok Nik Aziz. Its them that are supposed to be causing all this chaos and instability.
But stop. Put on your brakes.
That statment by Badawi is so that he makes sure he gets what he wants and needs. That is a two -third majority victory and better still if he can equal or better the 2004 performance.
So this statement is intended to stimulate you, or motivate you, or inspire you, or corner you or threaten you to vote BN or what?
Look at that statement carefully once again. " What will happen if there is chaos and instability?"
Now, that is not inspiring at all. Is it motivating? No! Is it stimulating? I am certainly not getting a hard on!
Is it inspiring a hope? Nope. Is it inspiring or prompting a fear? Now that is more like it!
If that is the case, is it carrying out the function of a threat? That sure bloody well is!
So, in otherwards Badawi issues a threat and I am supposed to respond to it and approach the polling booth in fear!
Bollocks to you Badawi. Bollocks to you.
So what Badawi is trying to suggest is that an "opposition" victory is a sure recipe for unmitigated disaster as there will be chaos and instability. Well, at least I am sure Chandra Muzaffar and a few others will certainly think so too.
And they expect that we are to stop at that and only view the "opposition" victory as chaos and instability in the same frame.
Now stop once again. There are more questions that need to be asked.
Who is going to cause the chaos and instability? Badawi ignominously leaves that out.
Now we know and can be sure that the "opposition" are indeed good losers. For 50 years they have been losing and they have not casued any problem. The only time the UMNO led coalition, Alliance then, came to losing their two-thirds majority, in 1969, UMNO and some of its leaders started the skirmishes that led to the infamous May 13 disaster. Of course for over 20 years they let us all believe that it was an opposition led or inspired strife.
Never mind. So if the BN gets its two-thirds majority, that will be alright and we will not have to worry about chaos and instability. The BN and Badawi are confident the "opposition" are good losers and know how to go back to their stables after a defeat. That is very complimentary and generous too.
What if the two-third majority is lost? What if the Barsan Nasional loses its simple majority and the "opposition" take over?
Chaos and instability! But how? Who causes it? The "opposition"?
Well yes! Except this time the opposition will be the BN led by Badawi himself. And he is promising that he and his Barisan Nasional will cause chaos and instability if they lost? Wow! woe be it if they lose. WE may have to start the new era with an Emergency!
Remember, with the present "opposition", i.e DAP, Keadilan and PAS in a victorious mood, they will be busy celebrating and will be busy trying to form the next government. Why would they want to cause chaos and instability and make life miserable for themselves?
So Badawi is basically saying that he and his buddies are basically bad losers and like very spoilt children, to keep them quiet and obedient, we should actually hand them a handsome victory! After that they will go to the loot at their whims and fancies as we are the ones who let them into the loot in the first place. Nice, very nice!
So Badawi is promising that if they lose, that is lose two-thirds or even worse, lose the simple majority, they are going to throw a tantrum! Have you seen what happens when an unrestrainable child throws a tantrum? And Badawi threatens that he is going to throw one if he loses!
So really what the BN wants is that we lie our lives in fear of them!!
Once again Badawi, bollocls to you!
