ISA: ADA LAGI TANGKAPAN?

http://www.utusan.com.my/pix/2007/0305/Utusan_Malaysia/Muka_Hadapan/mh_01_big.jpg

Beberapa Pemimpin Kumpulan Pelampau Akan Ditahan Mengikut ISA, Kata Johari

'Damai Malaysia' sounds like bullshit Malaysia.

via Viva la Revolucion!

I really can't stand it when someone tries to insult my intelligence. I mean, I'm not even so much as pissed if someone's trying to feed me bullshit; because if they manage to pull it off, well hey, hats off to you pal, guess you got me on that one. But when someone tries to piece together a 10 second thought process with no contemplation on how to lie to me, that pisses me off.

Like this little bullshit which I'm going to tell you in a minute.

In case you haven't been reading the news, (and I don't blame you if you haven't, the mainstream media sells you shit) there have been 2 massive street demonstrations in KL within the last several months, Bersih, a coalition of NGO's and political parties calling for electoral reforms, and a HINDRAF (Hindu Rights Action Force) rally for which they filed a class action lawsuit against the United Kingdom for 4 trillion US dollars (2 million dollars for 1.5 million Indians in Malaysia). The crowd estimates for both rallies were around 40 000 people.

Anyway, I was just browsing through NST before I came across this piece of news right here. Apparently more than "400 NGO organisations came to protest the recent street demonstrations".

"Damai Malaysia is a coalition of 395 NGOs representing 1.5 million Malay-sians who have declared their stand against street demonstrations."

For the record, "Malaysians" is one word dumbass. Way to make a typo that insinuates racism Ranjeetha Pakiam.

Anyway, it says here that it's the 'silent majority' that's speaking out for Malaysia. Right. Silent majority. Because the overwhelming amount of 350 people...

"A few uniformed policemen were seen monitoring the crowd of more than 350."

...beats 40 000 people any day.

But let's not stray from the point. Just because 350 people were there it doesn't mean that it's not representing a lot of people. In fact, NST claims that it represents the "silent majority" of 1.5 million Malaysians.

Wow. I wonder how they get that number.

myspace image at Gickr

I mean, seriously, I tried to verify who exactly are these silent 1.5 million people, and you'd think that they'd have the initiative to at least make a website if they really cared. I mean, Bersih has its own Website, AND Wikipedia entry.

Now when I type 'Damai Malaysia' online, I find...

Now, one might wonder, why is it that the 'noisy minority' such as HINDRAF and Bersih have references online, while 'Damai Malaysia' scores a Swiss Garden Golf Resort? I mean if there are indeed 1.5 million Malaysians behind Damai Malaysia, then you'd think at least one of them would be a cyber geek who's compelled enough to make a site or write something about it online.

Tenaga asks Malaysia for 10 years of price increases

http://www.myonestopsarawak.com.my/info/rakansarawak/032003/current_image/7.3.jpg
via Malaysiatoday
By Soraya Permatasari and Angus Whitley

(Bloomberg) -- Tenaga Nasional Bhd., Malaysia's biggest power utility, wants the government to let it raise electricity prices every year for a decade to compensate for a planned reduction in fuel subsidies.

After the natural gas subsidy to Tenaga is removed, the state-controlled company should be allowed to sell electricity at rates that reflect the cost of the fuel, Chief Executive Officer Che Khalib Mohamad Noh said in an interview yesterday.

A gradual increase in power prices ``would be easier, less painful'' for customers, Che Khalib said in Kuala Lumpur. The gas ``price in Malaysia is far too low. We have to correct that.''

A surge in prices of crude oil, gas and coal has swelled Tenaga's costs and increased Malaysia's annual fuel subsidy to more than 30 billion ringgit ($9 billion). The utility's shares have lagged behind the benchmark index this year partly on concern earnings may be eroded by higher fuel costs.

``It makes perfect economic sense instead of a one-off removal of the subsidy,'' said James Ratnam, an analyst at TA Securities Holdings Bhd. in Kuala Lumpur with a ``buy'' rating on Tenaga. ``Unless there's a clear policy, it will still weigh on the share price.''

Tenaga rose 5 sen, or 0.5 percent, to 9.40 ringgit at the close of trading on Bursa Malaysia Securities, the first gain in four days. The stock has fallen 14 percent this year compared with the 28 percent gain on the benchmark index.

Public Protests

Energy price increases had triggered public protests in Malaysia. A gasoline price hike in March 2006 led to street demonstrations in Kuala Lumpur. In May last year, police used water cannon to disperse crowds protesting against higher electricity rates. Opposition parties held protests in February after road-toll prices climbed.

Ten years of consecutive electricity price increases is ``politically, not realistic,'' TA's Ratnam said.

Malaysia fixes diesel, gasoline and power prices to keep inflation in check. Tenaga, more than half-owned by the state, needs government approval for any rate increase.

At an average price of 26.2 sen per kilowatt-hour, Malaysian power rates are the cheapest in Asia after Taiwan, with 25.4 sen, and Indonesia, with 23.2 sen, Che Khalib said on May 24 last year.

Under Tenaga's proposal to the government, prices should be reviewed every three months after the decade of annual increases expires, Che Khalib said.

Buying Gas

The effect on Tenaga ``should be neutral if gas prices are also increased gradually over the same period,'' said Tursina Yaacob, an analyst at OSK Securities Sdn. in Kuala Lumpur. ``If it's a gradual increase, consumers won't feel it that much.'' She has a ``buy'' rating on Tenaga stock.

Under an agreement with Malaysian state oil and gas company Petroliam Nasional Bhd., power producers in the Southeast Asian country buy gas at 6.40 ringgit per million British thermal units. That's about 70 percent below the market price, Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi said Sept. 24.

A surge in prices of natural gas, which is used to generate half of Tenaga's electricity, has increased the government's total gas subsidy by 9.1 percent to 15.6 billion ringgit in the year ended March 31, according to Petronas, as the oil and gas company is known.

Crude oil has surged 52 percent in New York this year and reached a record $99.29 a barrel on Nov. 21.

Tenaga generates almost half of Malaysia's electricity and is also the country's transmission monopoly, while so-called independent power producers including Tanjong Plc and YTL Power International Bhd. generate 51 percent.

Tenaga uses gas to produce half of its power, coal to generate 31 percent and oil-products for the rest.

Coal Prices

The utility said on Oct. 25 that higher fuel prices, mainly coal, and increased payments to buy power from independent generators will hurt profit in the year ending Aug. 31.

Tenaga currently buys coal at 40 percent below market prices under contracts that will expire mostly in August next year, Che Khalib said in the interview.

The company is in talks to extend the contracts for another year, he said. Tenaga has agreed to buy coal at 20 percent below market prices from two new mines in Kalimantan, Indonesia, stretching supplies until August 2009, he said.

Prices of thermal coal shipped from Australia's Newcastle port, an Asian benchmark, reached a record in the week through Dec. 7, according to the globalCOAL weekly index, amid rising demand from power utilities, export bottlenecks in Australia and surging consumption in China.

Tenaga is prepared to spend $2 billion for more power plant projects in the Middle East to expand overseas, Che Khalib said. The company has been pre-qualified to bid for some projects, he added, declining to elaborate. It has a joint venture with Malakoff Bhd. to build power and water plants in Saudi Arabia.

The utility is in talks with the Japan Bank for International Cooperation to accelerate payments on some of its yen-denominated loans that account for almost 15 percent of the company's total debt.

Tenaga is considering a government offer to take a 20 percent stake in a project to lay 700 kilometers (435 miles) of undersea power cables from the Bakun hydroelectric plant in the eastern state of Sarawak to the Malaysian peninsula, Che Khalib said.

Fatwa on ISA

via cyusof.blogspot

Well, we saw this coming.

A government bankrupt of ideas have finally grabbed the 5 leaders of the Hindu Rights Action Force (Hindraf) under the controversial Internal Security Act (ISA), which allows for detention without trial for a 2 year term in the interest of so called 'public order'. Sheeesh.

Nothing really justifies this draconian law as a 'necessary evil'. Government apologists will forever argue that the 'silent majority' of the rakyat gave tacit approval by returning the same government again and again. But people, this a baaad 'preventive' law. It may have served its purpose during its time but its now no longer necessary. There are other punitive laws in place so lets charge the 5 in a court of law, eh? Whats the matter, no credible evidences to make them stick? Come on, even the seemingly harsh Shariah Laws require credible evidences and witnesses before punishment can be meted out.

The Mufti of Sabah recently willy nilly issued a fatwa (religious decree) that declared all Buddhist statues haram (forbidden) in the state. This, I believe, is more dangerous to public order and threatens the very fabric of our multi racial and multi religious society. On 18th August 2004, a group of 22 ISA detainees challenged the Malaysian Council of Muftis to make a fatwa on the ISA, which ex detainee Saari Sungib argued, violates “principles of human rights and the rule of law enshrined in the Scriptures”. But somehow this was kept out of the mainstream media and nothing came out of it. No prizes for guessing why.

Perhaps its about time all the state Muftis, or even one of them to have the balls to sort this matter out once and for all.

NGOs discuss Indian issues with PM in heart-to-heart chat

via malaysiaonnews.blogspot.

PUTRAJAYA: A frank and open discussion. That was how representatives of Indian groups described their two-hour meeting with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi yesterday.

The talks centred on issues affecting the community, particularly its socio-economic standing in the country.

A spokesman from the Prime Minister's Office said Abdullah told the representatives of the 13 non-governmental organisations what the Government was doing to help uplift the economic and social standing of the Indian community.

“He also explained the Government’s stand on the Hindraf issue. All those who attended pledged to work with the Government for the betterment of the Malaysian Indian community,'' he added.

The meeting took place just 24 hours after the arrest of five Hindraf leaders under the Internal Security Act on Thursday.

The spokesman said Abdullah also stressed on the importance of preserving peace and stability, which was important to a developing nation like Malaysia.

“One thing for certain is that the NGOs disagreed with the way Hindraf used demonstrations to voice its views and claims, specifically ethnic cleansing of the Indian community, which they said did not make sense,” he added.

The 13 NGOs that attended the meeting were the Malaysian Hindu Sangam, Malaysian Hindu Dharma Mamandram, Malaysian Hindu Association, Sri Murugan Centre, Malaysian Hindu Youth Council, Malaysian Tamil Youth Bell Clubs Council, and Malaysian Associated Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry.

The others were the Malaysian Indian Business Association, National Land Finance Cooperative Society, National Union of Plantation Workers, Malaysian Tamil School Headmasters Association, Child Information Learning and Development Centre, and Yayasan Strategik Sosial.

Works Minister and MIC president Datuk Seri S. Samy Vellu and Suhakam commissioner Datuk N. Siva Subramaniam also attended the meeting.

Malaysia Hindu Dharma Mamandram president Assoc Prof N.S. Rajendran said the meeting was called to hear the expectations and feelings of the Indian community.

“He asked us to be frank about the real situation. All of us were given a chance to express our views.

“We raised issues on education, civil service, promotions, racial integration, religion and others.

“The Prime Minister was very attentive and took down notes,” he said.

Rajendran said: “Some of the representatives raised ‘rather hard issues’ to which Abdullah replied ‘Don’t worry, I am here to listen and I want you all to be frank’.

“The Prime Minister also stressed that this would not be the last meeting. He said he would have a discussion with Samy Vellu on the issues raised,” he added.

Malaysia Hindu Sangam president Datuk A. Vaithilingam said they asked Abdullah to consider releasing the five Hindraf leaders held under the Internal Security Act (ISA) and charge them in court.

“We also made a request to release the 31 people charged in court as they were at a place of worship (Batu Caves) and many of them were merely bystanders who might have just questioned the police and were arrested,” he added.

Vaithilingam said he also agreed to be the coordinator to prepare a memorandum to be submitted to Abdullah on the community’s plight.

Siva Subramaniam said it was the first time he saw NGOs boldly pouring out all their grievances.

Before the discussion Abdullah also met with Bar Council chairman S. Ambiga.

Menteri Penerangan ZAINUDDIN MAIDIN Meng'api'kan Isu Perkauman

From Malaysiakini: Read here article by Jamiliah Kassim

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at PhotobucketCuba fikirkan tentang latarbelakang pemimpin ini.

Siapakah beliau?

Apakah beliau layak menyebut tentang mempertahankan kedudukan orang Melayu?

Jawapannya TIDAK!

Apakah pemimpin kita mahu keadaan sedemikian berlaku?

SAMY BARU NAK SIBUK PASAL BANTU INDIA

Minorities and opposition united against the government

via asianews.

The last month has seen a crescendo of protests led by the Indian minority and opposition parties demanding equal opportunities and electoral reform. Authorities react with force while premier Badawi approves the implementation of the draconian Internal Security Act.

Kuala Lumpur (AsiaNews/Agencies) – Malaysia’s opposition parties have come out in support of the Indian ethnic minority, which has launched a series of protests recently against the governments discriminating policies. Yesterday former vice premier Anwar Ibrahim demanded that the 5 Indian activists arrested on December 12 for their role in organising protests be allowed to appear before the courts to avoid a violation of their rights. M. Manoharan, R. Kengadharan, B. Ganabathi Rao, Vasanthan and lawyer P. Uthayakumar, are being held under the Internal Security Act (ISA).

ISA is an emergency law which has been in vigour since 1969, and is widely criticised by the International community. It allows for the unlimited detention of presumed criminals, torture and beatings and even sets out that they can be re-arrested after a court has ordered their release.

The 5 are leading members of Hindraf (Hindu Rights Action Force), the group which has become the main defender of the Hindu minority in the country. It was their initiative which saw over 30 thousand people – according to unofficial estimates - take to the streets of the capital Kuala Lumpur November against racial discrimination which favours the majority Malay population.

The Indian community’s discontent is accompanied by the oppositions’ campaign for electoral reform ahead of the general election set for 2008. The authoritarian premier Abdullah Badawi is facing a deep governmental crises. Protests in recent months have rocked social classes, a crises refelected in the institutions and economy. Out of 27 million inhabitants, Muslim Malays count for 60% and dominate the political scene; 25% are of Chinese origin, and highly influential in the economy, while only 10% is represented by Indians, who take up the most undesirable jobs.

DIHALANG TAPI ....4,000 ORANG HADIR

Lebih 4,000 hadiri ceramah PKR di Jalan Kebun ..

Malaysiakini.com
melalui: harakahdaily

Selain Anwar, turut berceramah malam tadi ialah Setiausaha Agung PKR, Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim; Naib Presiden PKR, Sivarasa Rasiah; Timbalan Setiausaha Agung PKR, Dr Xavier Jayakumar; Ahli Majlis Pimpinan Tertinggi PKR, S Manikavasagam, dan ahli jawatankuasa PAS pusat, Dr Lo'Lo' Ghazali.

"Azizah (Datin Seri Wan Azizah Ismail) mendapat laporan bahawa Umno menyebar risalah supaya jangan percaya Anwar kerana beliau menyokong Hindu.

Musharraf to Lift Emergency Rule, Meet Key Demand
Bloomberg.com

By Khaleeq Ahmed and Farhan Sharif

Dec. 15 (Bloomberg) -- President Pervez Musharraf is scheduled to lift emergency rule and restore the constitution in Pakistan today, meeting a key opposition demand for free and fair parliamentary elections next month.

The provisional constitutional order will be revoked through a presidential ordinance in Islamabad today, according to Musharraf's spokesman Rashid Qureshi. The president will address the nation in a televised speech at 8 p.m. local time, the official Associated Press of Pakistan said.

http://img.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2007/09_02/PakistanRiotR_468x367.jpg

The restoration of the constitution may curb opposition to Musharraf from former prime ministers Benazir Bhutto and Nawaz Sharif, who have said their parties will contest the Jan. 8 ballot under protest. The U.S. had also been pressing Musharraf to revoke the emergency decree before the election.

Musharraf suspended the constitution on Nov. 3 and fired Supreme Court judges, accusing them of interfering in affairs of state and hampering the fight against terrorism. He also imposed media curbs, suspended citizens' rights and arrested thousands of opposition supporters.

`The lifting of emergency fulfills a demand of the political parties and the international community,'' Zafar Nawaz Jaspal, assistant professor of international relations at Quaid- e-Azam University in Islamabad said. ``Media curbs still remain and the judiciary's position is the same. So this is just a way to legitimize the elections.''

Constitution Amended

Musharraf amended the constitution late yesterday to ensure any actions taken under emergency cannot be challenged, Daily Times newspaper reported.

The president is not scheduled to relax restrictions on the media and has said he won't reinstate deposed judges, including former top judge Iftikhar Muhammed Chaudhry.

Musharraf fired the country's judges as they were due to rule on the legality of him seeking a second term in office while remaining army chief. A new panel of Supreme Court justices, all appointed by the president, rejected the challenge and backed the Oct. 6 presidential ballot, in which Musharraf won a majority of votes from lawmakers.

Musharraf stepped down as army chief on Nov. 28 and was sworn in for a second five-year term as president a day later. Most opposition supporters have been freed.

Lawyers' Boycott

Lawyers plan to boycott the election to pressure the government to reinstate deposed judges, according to the Pakistan Bar Council. As many as 40 lawyers, including Aitzaz Ahsan, president of the Supreme Court Bar Association, have withdrawn their applications to contest the election.

Cricket captain turned lawmaker Imran Khan has said his Tehrik-e-Insaaf party will boycott the elections because they are illegal under Musharraf. Khan won the sole seat for his party in the 2002 elections.

Jamaat-e-Islami, the second-largest religious party has also decided to boycott the ballot.

An opinion poll published on Dec. 13 shows that 67 percent of Pakistanis want Musharraf to resign immediately. Presidential spokesman Rashid Qureshi rejected the poll, the official Associated Press of Pakistan reported.

The survey was conducted last month by the Washington-based International Republican Institute after Musharraf declared a state of emergency. A majority of Pakistanis oppose the decree and 70 percent of respondents said the government doesn't deserve to be returned to office in elections.

Emergency Opposed

Seventy percent of respondents opposed the state of emergency and 26 percent supported it.

Bhutto, 54, who returned to Pakistan in October, ending eight years in self-imposed exile, has said she has evidence the pro-Musharraf party plans to rig voting. She survived an assassination attempt on her homecoming procession when suicide bombers killed 136 people in Karachi.

Sharif, 57, who was barred by the Election Commission from contesting the ballot on the grounds that he was convicted of hijacking in 2000, has said he won't work under Musharraf if he wins a majority in the voting. Sharif returned to Pakistan last month.

Prominent lawyer VK Lingam today broke his two-month silence on his alleged role in the appointment of ‘friendly’ judges to the higher courts.

He said he would cooperate with the royal commission to be set up by the government to look into the ‘Lingam tape’ scandal, named for his alleged involvement in a telephone conversation recorded in 2002.

“I will surely cooperate with the royal commission. And as such, it would be inappropriate for me to comment further on the matter now,” he told Malaysiakini today when contacted this afternoon.

How Dare They Insult Us!!

via rantingsbymm

I'm sorry, who are Damai Malaysia and who are the supposed 395 NGOs represented by them? Where is the list of those NGOs? So far the ones mentioned are all related to political parties which, in my book, don't count as NGOs.

Secondly, where do they get off saying that they represent the silent majority? Were YOU asked? I'm sorry, I haven't said much but I am NOT represented by this Damai lot. Who the hell is Mohd Saiful Adil Mohd Daud anyway?

Thirdly, what is in the memo? If they are claiming to represent the silent majority, then don't the silent majority have a right to read that memo? I haven't seen any report that actually tells us what is contained in that memo. And I love how thick it is! They seriously expect the PM to read the entire thing? (Or maybe it just says nothing except 'we love you' throughout?)

Fourthly, what is the difference between presenting this memo and those other memos? Just because this one says 'We Think You're Wonderful' and 'People Who Demonstrate Are All Thugs', they get to hand it directly to the PM? While the ones that say 'Please Can You Listen and Deal with Real Issues?' have to go through police barricades, water cannons and tear gas? Is the inability to go shopping the most important issue of the day?

I can tolerate most things but I can't abide being insulted and treated as if I'm stupid. Since when does peace mean maintaining hotel room bookings and retail sales? You mean, as long as tourists come and we're shopping we're OK? How dumb is that?

Peace is not possible without justice and equality. Look at places like Palestine; without justice and equality for all the people who live there, there can be no peace. Do we condemn their need to protest, even while we may not support some of their violent forms of expression?

Just because we don't have violence doesn't mean we have true and meaningful peace. Peace doesn't mean just being able to go round without worrying if someone is going to shoot you ( though going by some of the stories in the papers, we should worry about this too). It also means living with a clear conscience, that your friend and neighbour is not suffering from injustice. It means everyone has the opportunity to better themselves, not just some.

I resent the implication that those who support the right to dissent and protest do not want peace and want violence. Hey, I have kids too and I want them to grow up in a peaceful country. But I don't want them to grow up in place where they cannot say what they think, where they are treated as if they are retarded if they want to express what they feel, where if they do not agree with the Government they are immediately labelled traitors. Excuse me!!! Do you know of any country where whole swathes of people are called thugs and traitors yet still remain peaceful? It is the name-calling, accompanied by thuglike behaviour on the part of Government institutions, that leads to violence, not the other way round.

All it takes is some empathy. I am so appalled that all the discussion is about what a nuisance demos and protests are when the real issues are swept under the carpet. Demos are just symptoms, not the real issue. What is so difficult about saying, "OK, enough already. Let's all be civilised and sit down and talk?"

Dua Perkataan Bila Diubah Akan Membawa Makna Berbeza

Perkataan Kereta Api bila diterbalikkan akan menjadi Api Kereta.
Maknanya kini sudah tidak samakan?...

Begitu juga antara Beruk Mamat dengan Mamat Beruk.
Beruk Mamat bererti beruk itu kepunyaan Mamat sebaliknya
bila Mamat Beruk membawa erti perangai Mamat seperti beruk.

KENYATAAN KHIR TENTANG RIMBA JAYA

Rujukan: KUALA LUMPUR, 9 Dis (Bernama)

Berpendapat biar lah berfakta. Agar kenyataan tidak disanggah.

Writ of habeas corpus filed for Manoharan (Malaysiakini)

via presentpowerpoint

IPOH: A writ of habeas corpus for the release of lawyer M. Manoharan from detention under the Internal Security Act (ISA) has been filed. DAP national chairman Singh, who is acting as lawyer for the detainee, said the application was filed at 4.30pm at the High Court here Friday. The High Court here fixed next Wednesday to mention the case, in which the Internal Security Minister and head of the Kamunting detention camp have been named as respondents. Karpal Singh said the two-year detention order issued by the Internal Security Ministry was unconstitutional and invalid. He said the detention order was not done in accordance with Section 73 of the ISA, which requires police investigations and recommendations to be given to the Internal Security Minister within a period of 60 days before a detention order is issued. During the 60-day period, he said, a detainee would be allowed to put up his defence before the Minister made a decision on the detention order. Manoharan, who was detained at 2pm on Thursday in Kuala Lumpur, is already put under a two-year detention order, which was handed to his wife V.N.S Pushpaneela when she visited Manoharan at the Kamunting detention camp in Taiping Friday morning.

“For the first time in the legal history of the ISA in Malaysia, a two-year detention order has been issued against a detainee without the initial 60-day period,” said Karpal Singh. “The order made by the Minister is defective,” he added. Manoharan and V. Ganabatirau, who are DAP members, are among five who were detained under the ISA on Thursday. The other three are lawyers P. Uthayakumar and R. Kenghadharan, and Hindraf coordinator T. Vasanthakumar.

Earlier at 10.30am yesterday outside the gates of the Kamunting detention camp in Taiping, Karpal Singh was denied entry to visit the detainees as their lawyer.

ISA detainee misses his three children

via Star 15/12

TAIPING: The first thing Hindraf legal adviser M. Manoharan asked his wife when she visited him at the Kamunting detention camp here yesterday was about his three children.

V.N.S. Pushpaneela, 46, said Manoharan missed the two boys, aged eight and 10, and girl, also 10, because he had not seen them for two weeks.

“He asked why I did not bring the children along,” she said after she was allowed to see Manoharan, 46, for 45 minutes.

Concerned wife: Pushpaneela answering questions from newsmen who surrounded her at the gates of the Kamunting detention camp in Taiping on Friday. On her left is Ipoh Barat MP M. Kulasegaran.
She added that her husband had not seen the children because they were away visiting their cousins in Klang during the school holidays.

On Thursday, Manoharan and four others – lawyers V. Ganabatirau, P. Uthayakumar and R. Kenghadharan and Hindraf coordinator T. Vasanthakumar – were detained for two years under the Internal Security Act (ISA).

Pushpaneela said she was shocked to find out that her husband had been detained because he was only fighting for the rights of the Indian community.

“He did not do anything wrong,” she said.

She added that her children were very disturbed when they heard that their father would be detained for two years.

On her visit, Pushpaneela said her husband looked fine and he met the other detainees for breakfast.

“He looks healthy and went for a jog this morning,” she said.

She added that Manoharan was sent to Kamunting at midnight after he was arrested on Thursday afternoon.

Pushpaneela said the camp authorities allowed her to visit Manoharan once a week, adding that the families of the other four detainees were also there for a visit.

Gamuda, MMC dapat projek, rakyat dapat apa?

Gamuda, MMC win RM12.5 billion Malaysian rail project
By Stephanie Phang

(Bloomberg) -- Gamuda Bhd. and MMC Corp. won a 12.5 billion ringgit ($3.8 billion) contract to build a railway in western Malaysia, the nation's biggest rail project.

The 329-kilometer (204 mile) double-rail link connecting Ipoh in Perak state to Padang Besar on the northern border with Thailand, will take five years to complete, Gamuda, the country's second-largest builder by market value, said in a statement today.

Malaysia revived the project, first awarded to the companies in 2003, to replace a single rail system and build new stations as Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi seeks to boost economic growth by lifting public spending. Revenue from the project will contribute to Gamuda's earnings this fiscal year ending July 2008, the Petaling Jaya-based company said.

``Their numbers are going to come in very strongly from this year onward,'' said Wong Chew Hann, an analyst at Aseambankers Malaysia Bhd. with a ``buy'' rating on Gamuda stock. Completing the project ``shouldn't be a problem.''

The original contract awarded in October 2003 was valued at 14.5 billion ringgit, and included a link in the south. Abdullah, who came into power in November that year, postponed the project in December to cut spending and trim the nation's deficit. |more...|

Sayangkan negara dan pengkhianat sebenar

dipetik: klpos

Ikut Suka Aku.

Demokrasi In Malaysia (Versi Terjemahan)

(Democracy in Malaysiat)
Petikan drp Wall Street Journal
melalui: MARHAEN

dipetik: teresakok

Today is a tiring and crazy day for me. The Dewan Rakyat passed a resolution earlier in the morning that the Dewan Rakyat can only recess after we have passed the budget of Ministry of Higher Education, Ministry of Home Affairs and Ministry of Internal Security. This made me cancel my dinner appointment with some supporters tonight.

Fong Po Kuan presented a RM10 pay cut on Minister of Internal Security, i.e. the Prime Minister himself. She was ‘bashed up’ by all the naughty boys of BN with their loud voice and ridiculous statements, and of course, we yelled back at them too.

Today I am forced to write two speeches and I participated in three debates in the three ministries mentioned above. Parliament sitting ended at 11.30pm tonight.

Below is my speech on Internal Security Ministry, I spoke a lot about Web Power Sdn Bhd. When Deputy Minister Foo Ah Kiow replied he said he has no information about Web Power Sdn Bhd and he said he’ll give me written reply:

Ucapan YB Teresa Kok, Ahli Parlimen Seputeh Dalam Perbahasan Peringkat Jawatankuasa Kementerian Keselamatan Dalam Negeri Pada 10 Disember 2007

Butiran: 020000 POLIS DIRAJA MALAYSIA, 050000 PENJARA
