Mahkamah putus kerusi DUN Sanglang dikosongkan

atranungkite - Mahkamah Tinggi di sini, hari ini memutuskan kerusi Dewan Undangan Negeri (DUN) Sanglang yang dimenangi calon Barisan Nasional (BN) pada pilihan raya umum Mac lalu, dikosongkan selepas mahkamah menerima permohonan petisyen yang dikemukakan bekas calon pilihan raya Pas bagi kerusi berkenaan.

Keputusan itu bermakna pilihan raya kecil perlu diadakan untuk memilih wakil rakyat baru kawasan DUN berkenaan. (foto: Ustaz Hashim Jasin - pempetisyen)

... selanjutnya.

The Kingmakers: Sabah, Sarawak and the 12th Malaysia General Elections

asiafoundation - [...] The Economist last week featured a telling pie chart on Malaysia’s 12th general election results. It revealed, without analysis, that Malaysia’s Barisan National (BN) coalition has the electorate in Sabah and Sarawak to thank for saving its narrow majority in parliament. While the BN was toppled in key states like Penang and Selangor, there was barely a ripple in voter trends in Malaysia’s eastern most states. Almost all BN candidates in both states won with a solid majority. The BN has been the ruling coalition in Malaysia since 1974, though its dominant party the United Malays National Organisation (UMNO) has been in the governing seat since independence in 1957.

These often ignored states are now enjoying the limelight as kingmakers for the BN and are well placed to cash in on the attention.

Geographically separated from Kuala Lumpur by the South China Sea, Sabah and Sarawak comprise 5.4 million people or 20% of Malaysia’s population of 27 million. Together the states gave the BN 54 seats out of 140 in the Malaysian parliament. 41 of these seats are held by local Sabah and Sarawak parties that have joined the BN coalition.

However, the BN’s success in Eastern Malaysia should not lead observers to believe that Sabahans and Sarawakians are satisfied with the BN’s governance, accountability and service delivery in their states.... selanjutnya.

Watchdog Claims Fraud Bars Opposition From Taking Power, Demands Reforms

www.mysinchew

KUALA LUMPUR, MALAYSIA: A Malaysian election watchdog launched an online petition Tuesday (18 Mar) to demand poll reforms, claiming that vote fraud and irregularities in recent elections had prevented the opposition from taking power.

The Coalition for Clean and Fair Elections, known as Bersih, said it was through "fraudulent" tactics that the ruling National Front coalition retained power in the 8 Mar polls with only a simple majority of 140 out of 222 seats in the federal Parliament.

The group of opposition parties and non-governmental organizations said the opposition, which won 82 seats, needed only 56,822 more votes to wrest the coalition's 30 weakest seats to form the federal government, it said.

"The opposition parties might have won the elections outright if it was in fact clean, free, fair and transparent," Bersih said on its Web site.

The opposition also won control of five out of 13 state governments, dealing the biggest upset to the National Front in its 51-year rule.

Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi has said the opposition's gains proved elections were clean. But Bersih said "such a claim is as ridiculous as the assertion that cancer is not a killer because some patients survive the disease."

The group appealed to Malaysia's constitutional monarch, King Mizan Zainal Abidin, to appoint a Royal Commission on Electoral Reform to overhaul the electoral process and to investigate allegations of fraud and misconduct in the March elections.

The image “http://buletinonline.net/images/berita3/phantubas5.gif” cannot be displayed, because it contains errors.Bersih cited gerrymandering and said the electoral roll contained irregularities, such as names of people who were dead, falsely registered to vote or registered multiple times in different areas.

Nazri Aziz, the minister in charge of parliament, dismissed Bersih's claims, saying the opposition could not have made such big gains had elections been rigged.

"They are talking nonsense," he said.

Bersih accused the Election Commission of bias and protested the commission's move to cancel plans to use indelible ink to prevent multiple voting just three days before polling day.

It also charged that postal votes for military and police personnel were non-transparent and can be easily rigged. (AP)

“Buku” baru buat Malaysia

n32.blogspo

Terima kasih atas sokongan anda semua.

KeADILan

Malaysian opposition pulls off election coup

By South East Asia correspondent Karen Percy
Opposition makes gains in Malaysian election

Opposition makes gains in Malaysian election

Malaysia's opposition parties have pulled off a historic election performance, posing the first challenge to the ruling Government in five decades.

At the last election Prime Minister Abdullah Badawi won 90 per cent of seats, but now he has lost a crucial two-thirds majority, which means he will need opposition cooperation to make constitutional changes.

At last count, the opposition had a record 82 seats of the 222 seats in the national parliament - with several seats still to be determined.

Mr Abdullah will stay in office, but for the first time since independence in 1957 there will be a sizeable opposition in Parliament.

Mr Adbullah says he will accept the results and has appealed for calm, saying he will not resign.

The opposition parties were brought together by former deputy prime minister, Anwar Ibrahim, who is currently banned from politics because of a corruption conviction.

His eldest daughter Nurul Izza Anwar ousted a sitting minister in an inner-city seat in the capital, while his wife Wan Azizah Wan Ismail maintained her seat in Penang.

Mr Anwar says the election results are a big success for the opposition and he has called this a defining moment in Malaysia's history.

"It is reassuring because Malaysians want reform, democracy and a new economic agenda," he said.

"Given the scenario that we have, [and] the limitations that we have, [like] no access to the media, this is phenomenal."

Cops seal Selangor state secretariat

Star

PETALING JAYA: Police last night cordoned off the Selangor state secretariat building, preventing anyone other than the state secretary himself or his representatives from entering the building.

State chief police officer Deputy Comm Datuk Khalid Abu Bakar said police had to cordon off the building as supporters from the previous administration and the incoming team had gathered outside the building.

“We took charge of the building, as it belongs to or is under the jurisdiction of the state secretary, who is also the caretaker of the state.

Police cordon: Men in blue sealing off the entrance to the state secretariat in Petaling Jaya last night.
“No one other than him or his deputy or appointed officials, is allowed to enter,” he said when asked about officials from the previous administration trying to force their way into the building.

DCP Khalid said police would be stationed there until the new state government is formed. He said the move was also to ensure peace and security.

In ALOR STAR, PAS supporters blocked the entrance to Wisma Darulaman, the state secretariat building, after the party succeeded in forming the new state government.

Kedah police chief DCP Datuk Syed Ismail Syed Azizan said the situation at Wisma Darulaman was under control as police had cordoned off the area to prevent unauthorised personnel from entering the building.

“The security in the state is under control and there is nothing for anyone to fear. Do not listen to rumours or SMSes,” he said.

Malaysian coalition suffers rebuke in general elections

Ruling Barisan Nasional (National Front) coalition supporters watch updated election results on screens in Kuala Lumpur on early March 9, 2008.* Opposition figurehead Anwar Ibrahim describes Opp’s crossing one-third threshold as ‘major victory’

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia’s ruling coalition was dealt a shock rebuke in Saturday elections that looked set to deliver the key state of Penang to the opposition as well as a slice of its majority in parliament.

Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi won a landslide victory in 2004 polls, but pollsters said he was being punished over high inflation, rising crime rates and ethnic tensions in the multicultural nation.

Major victory: Opposition figurehead Anwar Ibrahim, the former deputy premier who was sacked and jailed in 1998, said the Barisan Nasional coalition could lose its two-thirds majority in parliament for the first time in four decades.

“We have crossed the one-third majority. This is based on information from the candidates from the initial counting,” he told AFP. “This is a major victory... and we are moving up very fast towards 40 percent.”

The opposition held just 20 seats in the outgoing 219-seat parliament. In Penang, the only state dominated by ethnic Chinese, the opposition Democratic Action Party (DAP) said it was confident of ousting Barisan Nasional with the help of Anwar’s Keadilan and the Islamic party PAS.

“Definitely we have won enough seats to form the next state government. The DAP has won 19 seats while Keadilan and PAS secured another five,” DAP candidate P Ramasamy told AFP.

Malaysia’s minority ethnic Indians and Chinese had been expected to turn away from the government, but pollsters said the coalition also suffered a loss of support from the majority Muslim Malays that form its bedrock. “Basically, what we are seeing right now is that there is a massive swing against the Barisan Nasional among the ethnic Indian and Chinese electorates,” said Merdeka Centre research firm pollster Ibrahim Suffian.

“And also a significant swing of about 15 percent, I estimate, from among the Malay electorate as compared to the 2004 elections,” he told AFP. “Judging by the extent to which the unofficial reports are coming through there is a slim chance that the BN’s two-thirds majority might be breached.”

Anwar is barred from holding office until April, but has been criss-crossing the country campaigning for Saturday’s general elections, rallying his own Keadilan party and two others which have formed a loose alliance. “My concern now is why is there a deliberate delay on the part of the government-controlled media in announcing the results,” he said.

Six hours after voting closed, the Election Commission had announced just a few dozen seats – mostly ones where the coalition won. The charismatic 60-year-old Anwar, who was jailed on sex and corruption charges that were widely seen as politically motivated, said the result was a personal victory.

“I feel truly vindicated by the mass support given to the opposition,” he said. “Going forward, Malays, Indians and Chinese all have to work together and make us a formidable force.”

Asked when he cast his vote early on Saturday whether Barisan Nasional would retain its two-thirds majority, Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi said only: “Insha-Allah (God willing).”

Merdeka Centre pollster, Ibrahim, said the results put the premier’s future in jeopardy as the head of the United Malays Nasional Organisation (UMNO), which leads the coalition. “I think he will have a tough time ahead as he goes into UMNO party elections which are in the middle of the year. afp

Abdullah at Risk After Losing Malaysian Supermajority (Update2)

Bloomberg.com

By Angus Whitley and Stephanie Phang

March 9 (Bloomberg) -- Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi's hold on power in Malaysia is in doubt after the best performance in 50 years by an opposition that wants to scrap legalized preferences for the ethnic Malay majority, help the poor and battle corruption.

While the ruling coalition kept control of the government after yesterday's election, it lost the two-thirds majority it has enjoyed in parliament -- a free hand that has helped it to consolidate power. Opposition parties led by a new multiracial party promising to fight poverty and graft won support from ethnic Indians and Chinese, as well as Malays.

``You can't lead a coalition that loses this badly and stay in power,'' said Ooi Kee Beng, an analyst at Singapore's Institute of Southeast Asian Studies. ``He should resign. The coalition is in crisis because it can no longer claim it represents all the races.''

Abdullah's United Malays National Organisation, which leads the ruling coalition of race-based parties, lost power in five of 12 states at stake, including Malay-majority Kelantan and Kedah, the premier's home state of Penang.

``We have done very badly across the board, not just in Kelantan,'' said Annuar Musa, UMNO's head in the northeastern state, which the Pan-Malaysian Islamic Party won.

Third-Largest Economy

The Chinese-based Democratic Action Party took every state and parliamentary seat it contested in Penang. The National Front coalition has won the other seven states in Southeast Asia's third-largest economy, according to the Election Commission.

The National Front has won 137 of 222 parliamentary seats, with the opposition at 82, according to the latest data from the Election Commission. The opposition's 37 percent of parliament exceeds 1969's 34 percent.

Former deputy premier Anwar Ibrahim, 60, a well-known moderate Islamist who was imprisoned during the last election, coordinated the opposition campaign and his multiethnic People's Justice Party won 31 seats, up from one in 2004.

``This is the start of our mission to implement our reform agenda for a multi-racial Malaysia,'' Anwar said in an interview just after 4 a.m.

Anwar had been sacked in 1998 and later found guilty of having homosexual relations and of trying to cover up that alleged crime -- allegations he denied. The sex charge was overturned in 2004.

Accepting Defeat

Abdullah, 68, said earlier that coalition leaders who lost their seats should accept defeat. He declined to answer questions about how the government might change its policies after the election.

``At the moment, there's no one pressuring me'' to step down, he told reporters before going home from UMNO's Kuala Lumpur headquarters at about 3 a.m.

The last time the opposition won a third of parliament, in 1969, opposition party victory parades prompted a bloody backlash and the prime minister later resigned. Malaysia's police chief, Musa Hassan, yesterday banned any election celebrations.

Voting went smoothly yesterday, with just one incident in the eastern state of Terengganu where supporters of PAS, as the Islamic party is known, tried to block two buses they suspected contained unregistered voters.

Schools, Homes, Jobs

Malaysia's Indians and Chinese together are a third of the country's 27 million population. UMNO governs with junior Chinese and Indian partners, who have been criticized for accepting an affirmative-action policy that gives Malays educational, housing and job preferences.

Works Minister Samy Vellu, the top ethnic Indian leader in Malaysia's ruling coalition, lost his seat, as did Koh Tsu Koon, the head of one of the coalition's main Chinese-based parties.

``This is the biggest defeat for our party since our founding 40 years ago,'' Koh said late last night. His party Gerakan had been in the opposition when it first won control of Penang in 1969.

``The people have shown their lack of confidence in the coalition in its present form and shape,'' said Tricia Yeoh, director of the Centre for Public Policy Studies, an independent research institute in Kuala Lumpur. ``It's a slap on their faces and a wake-up call.''

Anwar's multiethnic People's Justice Party co-operated with the DAP and PAS against the government, and has pledged to scrap the race-based policy as unjust and a drag on economic growth.

Cheaper Fuel

PAS, after suffering a setback in the 2004 election, dropped its goal of turning Malaysia into an Islamic state from this year's manifesto, promising free education, health services, low-cost housing, cheaper fuel and a minimum wage instead.

Anwar played a key role in moderating the pro-Islamic stance of PAS nationwide and rallying the opposition, said analysts including Ibrahim Suffian, director of the Merdeka Center, an independent Malaysian research group.

``The opposition parties have really gotten their act together in terms of strategizing and they have their icon of a leader in Anwar,'' said Maznah Mohamed, a senior fellow at the National University of Singapore.

Info daripada Gombak

Para pengundi berpusu-pusu menunaikan tanggungjawab mereka di Parlimen Gombak sedari awal pagi lagi. Sangat mengejutkan, pondok-pondok panas Pas & KeADILan lebih banyak dikunjungi pengundi berbanding pondok panas BN.

PAGI PAGI AKU DIGANGGU ....

Berita baik di awal pagi

Dang ... dang... dang!!

Beritahunya .... "TAHUN NI BARISAN HABIS". Maksudnya Barisan Nasional.
Saya tanya "Mana kakak tau?"

LAWAN ....... TETAP ....... LAWAN

I can't wait for the election..A MUST READ ITEM

damaipeace

Gentlemen, something to ponder...

You won't read this everyday, only 5 years (maybe 3 and a half year) ONCE!!

You may have received similar mails like this article but if that CHANGE and HELP our country and our next generation, will you copy and forward this to your friends and relatives?? Will you read, understand and explain the crucial decision we have to make? Let them understand their votes decide the future!!

It is absolutely crucial that the BN HAS TO BE denied its 2/3 majority in Parliament.

Even with 51% of the seats the BN will still rule the Government but they will be on their tippy, tippy toes. This is what we all want.

We want checks and balances. Firstly, if they lose the 2/3, it will cause a major psychological shock to the BN. It will most likely cause Abdullah Badawi's head to roll. The UMNO boys will replace him. If Badawi goes, the son-in-law, the cronies, the crooks, the thieves, etc., will all go too.

And the batch that replaces them will learn to pray to their gods more diligently, speak better Malay, Tamil and Mandarin, eat with chopsticks, sing Kongsi Raya songs and all the other good things that are needed to run this country properly.

Denying the BN the 2/3 is also crucial because it will mean that many BN (especially UMNO) candidates would not have public office. If they lose their MP and ADUN seats, they cannot become Ministers, Parliamentary Secretaries, State EXCO members, etc. This means their money tree will be cut off. They will no more be in a position to hand out goodies. UMNO and MCA will choke. This will cause great soul searching especially in UMNO

And MCA, which will finally lead to body piercing and ultimately head chopping.

It will change our politics for ever.

That is why it is absolutely crucial that all Malaysians stand up to bat for the future of this country. We do not need mere protest votes. We must Vote for drastic change. Out with the decrepit buggers. They smell and they are filthy. I can't wait for the elections.

Thousands of UMNO members will be voting against the BN this time. Among them will be Tun Dr Mahathir. Even more thousands of non-UMNO Malays will be doing the same thing.

Tun Dr Mahathir has made it plain that we should not vote for the BN. Dr Mahathir used discreet, indirect language. First he said that we should vote for 'credible candidates'. He then said that 'we cannot change UMNO from within; the change has to come from outside, so vote wisely'. Put together, these two indirect messages become a direct insistence from Dr Mahathir that we should not vote for the BN. He could not have been blunter.

We are most definitely going to see a very big swing in Malay votes this time around. This is where the Chinese and the Indians must step up to the plate and be ready to swing the bat. The Chinese in Penang , Kedah, Perak, Selangor, Kelantan and elsewhere have already made it known quite early on that they will not be voting for the BN this time. Let us reach out to our Chinese brethren and help reaffirm their commitment. Let us reassure ourselves that when the time comes, each of us does have the power in our hands to change our destiny and the destiny of this country which is our home. Let us be rid of the morons, imbeciles, the liars and the thieves. Also the murderers who have blown up Altantuya Shaarribuu Setev.

MCA and UMNO thought we are still like those days. Nearer to the dates of election, giving out "sweets" and "empty Promises" will work again this time!

Dear friends, they have forgotten about the POWER of the Internet now. We know too much of their tricks & we will not be cheated again!!

We have decided!!

We have decided!!

We have decided to CHANGE and to RESCUE our country!!!!

Vote for Justice. Vote AGAINST Corruption.

Activists warn Malaysian elections will be 'dirtiest ever'

KUALA LUMPUR, March 5, 2008 (AFP) - Malaysia's weekend ballot could be the "dirtiest ever", activists said Wednesday after authorities dumped plans to curb fraud by marking voters' fingers with indelible ink.

The New York-based Human Rights Watch also said Malaysians will be denied a fair vote in Saturday's general election, accusing the government of muzzling the opposition and manipulating the electoral process.

The Election Commission (EC) said Tuesday it would not introduce indelible ink as planned because it had uncovered a plot to sabotage the polls by using smuggled ink to mark unsuspecting voters before they cast their ballot, which would cause confusion.

EC chief Abdul Rashid Abdul Rahman said in a statement that the decision was made to avoid problems with public order.

He added: "The EC views these issues seriously, as the election process and public order and security cannot be compromised. The EC deeply regrets its decision."

Opposition parties condemned the decision as "ludicrous", saying it was designed to counter a groundswell of support for their cause, and accused electoral authorities of being in league with the government.

The Coalition for Clean and Fair Elections (Bersih), an alliance of opposition and civil society groups, said it would now be easier for "phantom voters" to alter the course of the ballot.

"Bersih warns Malaysians that the general election on 8 March could be Malaysia's dirtiest election ever as a result of the Election Commission's decision to cancel the indelible ink on polling day," it said in a statement.

HRW said the Barisan Nasional coalition, which has ruled for half a century, was intent on retaining its two-thirds parliamentary majority and unwilling to allow reforms being demanded by Bersih.

"Once again, elections in Malaysia are grossly unfair to the opposition," the global rights monitor's deputy Asia director Elaine Pearson said in a statement.

"Voters in Malaysia deserve a chance for every vote to count and count equally," she added. "Given the vast array of anomalies in the electoral rolls, this looks increasingly unlikely."

HRW said that already tight control on the media had become even more glaring during the campaign, with state-run and government-linked outlets observing a virtual blackout on the opposition.

While the government held rallies with tens of thousands of people, dissenting voices were refused permission to hold public meetings, and peaceful protests were dispersed with the use of tear gas and water cannons.

HRW said that in the face of major irregularities in the election process, there were concerns the government will manipulate the voting in closely fought districts.

It cited research by electoral reform campaigners who said that almost 9,000 voters born more than 100 years ago -- including two reported to be 128 years old -- were enrolled to vote, raising suspicions about phantom voting.

Wakil Rakyat

Video ni best. Video ANWAR DI GOMBAK disusuli dengan 'bankground' lagu Iwan Fals. Penyanyi Indonesia. Nikmati dan nyanyi bersama bertajuk "WAKIL RAKYAT"

Surat Buat Wakil Rakyat
Iwan Fals

Untukmu yang duduk sambil diskusi
Untukmu yang biasa bersafari
Di sana, di gedung DPR

Wakil rakyat kumpulan orang hebat
Bukan kumpulan teman teman dekat
Apalagi sanak famili

Di hati dan lidahmu kami berharap
Suara kami tolong dengar lalu sampaikan
Jangan ragu jangan takut karang menghadang
Bicaralah yang lantang jangan hanya diam

Di kantong safarimu kami titipkan
Masa depan kami dan negeri ini
Dari Sabang sampai Merauke

Saudara dipilih bukan dilotre
Meski kami tak kenal siapa saudara
Kami tak sudi para juara
Juara diam, juara he’eh, juara ha ha ha……

Wakil rakyat seharusnya merakyat
Jangan tidur waktu sidang soal rakyat (Senikata ni dituju kepada Dollah berdengkur)

Wakil rakyat bukan paduan suara
Hanya tahu nyanyian lagu ’setuju’

Abdullah's Reign at Risk as Malaysian Islamists Stress Poverty

``Abdullah will not be seen as a credible leader'' if Malay support drops off substantially, said Mohamed Mustafa Ishak, international studies dean at Universiti Utara Malaysia.

Abdullah counters that corruption prosecutions doubled to 1,317 in 2006 from 663 cases in 2001.

Corruption is a concern for retired civil servant Ahmad Othman, who runs a small palm oil farm in Kelantan. Folding his prayer mat after a two-hour weekly sermon by Nik Aziz, Ahmad said he'll switch to PAS from UMNO at this election.

``Not once have I seen corruption in Kelantan,'' he said.

March 5 (Bloomberg) -- In the northeastern Malaysian state he oversees, Nik Aziz Nik Mat banned nightclubs and pool halls on the grounds they violate Islamic law.

Now that his party is contesting national elections, he promises a different fight: against poverty and corruption.

Nik Aziz, the Pan-Malaysian Islamic Party's spiritual leader and chief minister of Kelantan state, and other party leaders are avoiding religious rhetoric as they campaign for national and state elections March 8. PAS, as the party is known, may be the biggest threat to Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi's governing coalition. more...
