Teresa, Selangor State Govt to sue Utusan

NST | Seputeh MP and Kinrara assemblyman Teresa Kok and the Selangor government will initiate separate suits against those responsible for her detention under the Internal Security Act.
Kok said her lawyers were currently making preparations to sue a newspaper and several others, although she did not say who these people were.

"I intend to take action against Utusan Malaysia and other individuals responsible," she said yesterday after attending her first weekly state executive council meeting since being released from detention.

State exco member Dr A. Xavier Jayakumar said the state government would separately sue Utusan Malaysia for defamation.

He said the libel suit was in relation to a column in the newspaper on Sept 10 which had alleged there were moves to restrict the use of loudspeakers for the call to prayer at mosques in Selangor.... selanjutnya.
