Military slew Bhutto -- sources?

Analysis: Military slew Bhutto -- sources
by Claude Salhani
spacewar.com

Benazir Bhutto was assassinated on orders of lower- and middle-level officers of the Pakistani army and air force, according to various intelligence sources, including members of India's counterintelligence service.

According to a source who asked to remain unnamed, members of the Pakistani armed forces involved in Thursday's killing of the former prime minister and leader of the opposition are sympathizers of the ultra-conservative Islamists with ties to the jihadis.

"It's worrying when half of your lower or mid-level Pak intelligence analysts have bin Laden screen savers on their computers," a former official of the CIA was reported to have commented.

More than one analyst is of the opinion al-Qaida and other jihadis have managed to successfully penetrate Pakistan's armed forces and security services. Given the fact Pakistan is in possession of nuclear weapons, the possibility of a pro-al-Qaida regime replacing President Pervez Musharraf would radically change the entire geopolitical alignment in southwest Asia, and it would have a spin-off effect on the Middle East, as well, primarily in regards to the Arab-Israeli conflict.

And it's not for lack of trying, either. Pro-Islamist groups have tried to assassinate Musharraf multiple times. Two attempts took place in December 2003 when rockets were fired at his vehicle during a visit to Rawalpindi, the same city where Bhutto was assassinated last Thursday.

Then there was an attempt to shoot his plane down with anti-aircraft fire in early 2007. There were also two suicide attacks on the army's general headquarters and two attacks outside the offices of the Inter-Services Intelligence agency after Pakistani security forces, acting on orders from Musharraf, assaulted the Red Mosque in Islamabad last July; Islamists had sought refuge inside the mosque with dozens of hostages. Scores of people died in the assault, and hundreds were arrested.

Following the two attacks on Musharraf, lower-ranking army and air force officers were placed under arrest. The investigation that followed discovered that the officers had ties with Jaish-e-Mohammad, an Islamist group. In the rocket attack, security forces arrested the son of an army brigadier general. According to the same source, however, only lower-ranking army officials were arrested and court-martialed. "The investigations are dead in the water," said the source.

Bhutto's main fear, according to a well-placed source in the intelligence community, was that retired Brig. Gen. Ijaz Shah of the Pakistani Intelligence Bureau would prove a grave threat to her. Bhutto was worried about her security but did not make a big issue of it, some say believing in destiny. But as recently as Dec. 26 she complained that the electronic jammers used to neutralize improvised explosive devices provided by the government were faulty.

Bhutto was well aware of the dangers she faced, having been briefed and having received death threats from her enemies. "She was warned of the dangers yet she continued to behave in a way in which the Secret Service in the U.S. would never accept," said Thomas Houlahan, director of military assessment with the Center for Security and Science in Washington.

Bhutto insisted on having her own people run her protection, said Houlahan, who added, "but nothing would protect her when she decided to stand through the sunroof of her car."

"That was extremely reckless," he said. "I don't see what could have been done."

Opposition to Bhutto was to be found not only in the country's armed forces and bin Laden sympathizers, but also from old Zia ul-Haq loyalists who did not want the daughter of Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto in a position of power. "They especially loathed the idea that Bhutto had pledged the United States to allow U.S. intelligence to interrogate rogue atomic scientist A.Q. Khan and allow U.S. forces to hunt for bin Laden on Pakistani soil.

"She did not have much of a chance," Houlahan said.

WHO IS THIS?

Benazir Bhutto casual wear

(.....) I am a defined person with a defined life who had the rare opportunity to serve Benazir Bhutto while I was living in Dubai. I had seen her from close quarters and was deeply impressed by her. She knows me, her secretary Naheed Khan knows me (She’s the one who introduced me to Benazir).

Second I know that it is much easier to hit a big billboard sign, the same goes for public figures. I also know that a libel case cold be easily brought upon the person who knowingly does so. I am willing to face any court of law in any place at any time if some one, any one believes that I am a sham. So I want to set the record straight by categorically stating that I have never had any malicious attention towards Benazir Bhutto, she herself could vouch for that. Her secretary Naheed Khan even entrusted me with getting her and her husband’s (Mr. Safdar) official documents processed.

Matter of fact is that I had shown her these “casual photos” in 2005 before posting them. She had laughed and brushed them aside. I spoke with her in early 2006 mentioning that her “photos” were getting really popular. We even had a joke about it. She had no objection to those “photos” being posted.

As to the other part of the queries about the origin of these photos, Benazir did not tell me when I asked her about the time and occasion. She was always in a hurry. Her masseur George answered my questions five months back. That was before my accident so I was not able to update then. George had taken this photo and some others at a private party in late 2000. So this photo is not from her birthday but a couple of months after that.

I don’t believe that these photos are in anyway unflattering towards Benazir Bhutto. My original motivation had been to share with the world the beautiful side of her. Unfortunately, it seems that some people out there have a different view about this.

I had planned to post some of the photos that George gave me, and the ones that I had taken myself during Benazir’s trip to the Al Qasr resort. That was cut short due to my slip on the mountains. When I came out of the hospital I found that the world had changed for the worse. Benazir had left Dubai. She had gone back to Pakistan. Someone tried to assassinate her. She is now fighting a ruthless dictator, she is fighting for liberalism, freedom and democracy. What a brave woman she is.

I wanted to clarify the facts. Additionally, I have decided to postpone posting her other photos from George and the Al-Qasr visit, since it seems that people would again easily accuse me of being partisan.

It would be better when the political dust settles in Pakistan and I could speak with Benazir Bhutto again that I would continue sharing the beautiful side of this very special woman. |more...|

New Angle Shows Benazir Bhutto Struck By Bullet.

New footage of Benazir Bhutto's Assassination shows the impact of the bullet which lifted her hair more... and shawl and contradicts the Pakistan govts version of events.

The Planned Killing of Benazir Bhutto

via intellibriefs.blogspot.

The key to the British Empire's financial success was its ability to manipulate Islam. The British Empire-builders eliminated the Islamic Caliphate, created nations out of deserts, eliminated some nations, and partitioned others to create Islamic nations. Britain was aware that the oil fields of Arabia would be a source of great power in the post-World War II decades. The western part of British India bordered Muslim Central Asia, another major source of oil and gas, bordering Russia and Muslim Afghanistan. British India also bordered Islamic Iran and the Persian Gulf—the doorway to the oil fields of Arabia. In order to keep its future options open, Balochistan, bordering northeastern Iran, and the tribal Pushtun-dominated areas bordering Afghanistan, remained as British protectorates.

So, when the break-up of British India was planned by Churchill and others, Balochistan was not a problem. The problem was the Pushtun-dominated North West Frontier Province (NWFP), which was led by a pro-Congress Party leadership, and had voted in the last referendum before partition, to join Hindu-majority India.

What London wanted was that the large Hindu-dominated India must not have common borders with Russia, or Central Asia. That could make it too powerful and, worst of all, energy independent. Pakistan was created by the gamesmen in London because they wanted a weak Muslim state that would depend heavily on the mighty British military. The Cold War period held this arrangement in place, to the satisfaction of the British. The Kashmir dispute, triggered from London to cut off Indian access to Afghanistan, served the British policy-makers well. |more...|

AJUDAN BHUTTO SAKSI PEMBUNUHAN

Ajudan Bhutto Bersaksi
dipetik: ntt-online.org

BENAZIR BHUTTO - Letupan

Benazir Bhutto TERBUNUH !!!

Benazir Bhutto

via BBC

Pakistani former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto has been killed in a presumed suicide attack, a military spokesman has announced on TV.

Earlier reports said Ms Bhutto had only been injured and taken to hospital.

Ms Bhutto had just addressed a pre-election rally in the town of Rawalpindi when the bomb went off.

At least 15 other people are reported killed in the attack and several more were injured. Ms Bhutto had twice been the country's prime minister.

She was campaigning ahead of elections due in January.

'She expired'

The explosion occurred close to an entrance gate of the park in Rawalpindi where Ms Bhutto had been speaking.

The blast caused carnage at the rally

PPP spokesman Farhatullah Babar initially said that Ms Bhutto was safe. But later he told the BBC that Ms Bhutto had died.

Another member of the PPP, Wasif Ali Khan, told the Associated Press news agency from the Rawalpindi General Hospital: "At 6:16 pm (1316 GMT) she expired."

Ms Bhutto returned from self-imposed exile in October after years out of Pakistan where she had faced corruption charges.

Her return was the result of a power-sharing agreement with President Musharraf in which he granted an amnesty that covered the court cases she was facing.

Since her return relations with Mr Musharraf have broken down.

On the day of her return she led a motor cavalcade through the city of Karachi. It was hit by a double suicide attack that left some 130 dead.

The PPP has the largest support in the country.

Earlier on Thursday at least four people were killed ahead of an election rally that Pakistan's former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif was preparing to attend close to Rawalpindi.
