Raja Petra to be charged tomorrow

breaking news Raja Petra Kamaruddin, the webmaster of the news portal Malaysia Today, will be charged tomorrow for sedition at the Magistrates’ Court in the Kuala Lumpur Court Complex in Jalan Duta.
“I have been ordered to surrender at the Jalan Duta Magistrates Court at 9.30am tomorrow … to be charged for sedition,” he said late this evening.
raja petra police questioning 020508 reportersLast Friday, Raja Petra was called in by the police to have his statement recorded over an Internet posting two weeks ago pertaining to the murder case of Altantuya Shaariibuu, a Mongolian national.

On April 25, Raja Petra posted an article titled ‘Let’s send the Altantuya murderers to hell’ on his blog, Malaysia Today. The posting implicated Deputy Prime Minister Najib Razak and his wife Rosmah Mansor in the high-profile case.

Najib subsequently issued a denial through his press secretary Tengku Sariffuddin Tengku Ahmad, whereas Rosmah has also denied the allegations against her.

The Altantunya murder trial is currently ongoing at the Shah Alam.

Refuses to give statement

A close aide to Najib, political analyst Abdul Razak Baginda and two police special operations force personnel have been charged with the murder of the Mongolian national.

Raja Petra had subsequently rejected to give his statement to the police, saying that “I refused to play their political game”.

“My article is political. My blog is political. Najib is political. Altantuya is a political issue,” he told reporters.

The 58-year-old blogger is no stranger to controversy. Last November, he was grilled by the police for eight hours after former Selangor menteri besar Muhammad Muhd Taib filed a police report against him.

Taib, who is now regional and rural development minister, had claimed that Raja Petra published postings and articles that were disrespectful to the King and Islam.

Tak ada ke pemimpin Pakatan Rakyat berani tegur Karpal?

Dia buat lagi. Hari tu dia hentam pasal negara Islam Pas. Kena jentik sikit - terus report polis. Le ni, dia hentam dan buat laporan polis lagi terhadap ucapan Tengku Mahkota Kelantan. Aduhai Karpal. Udah la buat perangai pada hari pertama di Parlimen, bergaduh dengan MP Kinabatangan, Bung Mokhtar. Buat malu DAP saje. Awak tu bukan first day masuk parlimen. Takkan tak boleh control macho kot. Siap gaduh pasal 'bigfoot' dan 'big monkey' lagi.

Nampak macam Karpal Singh ni tak faham-faham lagi. Rakyat pilih awak bukan kerana awak hebat! Rakyat pilih awak kerana kita nak bersama-sama lupuskan kekuasaan Umno dan BN yang rakus sekali berkuasa. Orang melayu rela berkorban dan sama-sama ubah persepsi terhadap DAP semata-mata nak mencapai matlamat ini. Dan kita dah berjaya kurangkan kekuasaan Umno dan BN serta menafikan majoriti 2/3 BN.

Tapi rakyat taknak orang macam awak la kalau perangai macam ni. Tahulah awak tu lawyer. Mengalahkan 'loyar buruk ' pun ada. Banyak lagi agenda rakyat di parlimen sana. Bukan setakat isu bigfoot itu sahaja. Nampak sangatlah Karpal ni tak tahu bertoleransi dan bertolak ansur.

Sekarang ni siapa pemimpin pakatan rakyat yang sanggup 'sound' dan 'bantai' sikit Karpal Singh. Pemimpin Pas pun sama. Janganlah kerana bertolak ansur dengan DAP, semua yang dia buat kita diamkan saja. Silalah bersuara untuk kebaikan Pas juga. Tapi dalam masa yang sama tidak mengugat keharmonian pakatan rakyat. Rasanya korang lagi pengalaman dari aku. Sendiri mau ingatlah.

Oleh kerana tak ada orang nak tegur Karpal, aku nak sound la dia sikit. Karpal Singh oit(aku taknak lah panggil engkau big monkey pulak). Lu tambi kena ingat. Ini DAP pegang Pulau Pinang sekarang dan menang besar PRU-12 bukan pasal lu tau! Ini pasal rakyat mahukan perubahan. Kalau lu sesuka hati buat macam Malaysia ini bapak lu punya negara, boleh main 'sound-sound' sama lu punya kawan (PAS) dan main sound-sound sama kami punya sultan, kami takkan bertolak ansur.

Sultan cakap pun lu nak report. Sultan tu ada sebut nama lu ke? Lu sudah berapa tahun hidup? Benda-benda yang boleh bertolak ansur macam ini tak payah la kasi besar-besar. Kasi orang menyampah saja sama lu. Tak percaya tunggu PRU-13 ni. Macam mana lu mau mewakili rakyat, sedangkan pada masa yang sama lu asyik provokasi rakyat saja?

Kepada pemimpin-pemimpin pakatan rakyat tu kasik lah nasihat elok-elok dekat OKU Karpal ni. Jangan sampai berpecah belah. Kita belum menang dan rakyat masih tunggu keputusan dan tengok perubahan negeri-negeri yang PR perintah. To Karpal Singh - Please! Please! Please! Cakap elok-elok. Orang pun suka. Gua pun tak suka sound-sound orang dan kutuk-kutuk orang, tapi kalau lebih-lebih sendiri mau ingatlah! Piiirah mabuk!!

Malaysian coppers swoop on blogger

theinquirer - INSPECTOR Knacker of the Kuala Lumpur Yard seems to be a little too interested in protecting the reputation of politicians from Internet bloggers.

The writer of a popular bog Malaysia Today found coppers barging into his house after he penned a rant about how the deputy premier and his wife were involved in the murder of a Mongolian model.

Raja Petra Kamaruddin said coppers questioned him and walked off with his PC under their arms after he penned the rant entitled "Let's send the Altantuya murderers to hell.”

The rant was based on something that Kamaruddin read in his local rag about Deputy Prime Minister Najib Razak and his wife being involved in the case.

Najib was tipped to be the successor to Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi has denied any involvement in the high-profile murder case.

Basically his mate, political analyst Abdul Razak Baginda, has been charged with helping someone blow up a Mongolian woman Altantuya Shaariibuu. Two coppers from the Special Action Force, whose job it is to look after the prime minister and deputy, are charged with the killing.

Najib's wife, Rosmah Mansor has denied any involvement in the killing and denounced the Internet lies.

It is not the first time that Raja Petra has fallen foul of the authorities. Coppers swooped on his house when he wrote a rant that someone thought insulted Islam and the king. µ

Wan Azizah gets aggressive, challenges PM

sun2surf - Opposition Leader Datin Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail (PKR-Permatang Pauh) challenged the Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi to set up an independent commission to probe the multi-billion ringgit purchases by the Defence Ministry.

She said the government’s integrity was severely affected when government leaders consented to corruption and wastage, practiced nepotism by distributing contracts and shares to family members and cronyism by enriching only a small group of society.

She quoted the purchase of military equipment or specifically the Scorpene submarine worth RM4.5 billion and the Sukhoi jet worth RM3.2 billion whereby massive amounts of commission were paid.

"The people’s perception is that these may not be commissions but bribes between the leaders and individuals who received the commissions,” she added.

Earlier, Wan Azizah said in the international scene, Malaysia being a member of Asean, Apec, Commonwealth, OIC and United Nations must not be isolated in its stand of what is happening around the world.

She said Malaysia must be firm and clear in defending the country’s sovereignty and act in line with the demands of universal fairness and values. more...

Earlier I had seen him mingling amongst the media people, so that was ok. I saw him next when Wee and Rocky tried to gain admittance into the Complex. I saw this same guy amongst the police personnel talking to Wee and Rocky. And now he is in the picture. WHO IS HE? RPK supporter? Agent? SB's planted twig? BN extra? The 'MESSAGE' from Raja Petra

I received a phone call early this morning saying that the police have contacted YB William Leong to inform him they will be taking me in today. It was not made clear whether it would be to take my statement, which they failed to get from me last Friday, or whether I am to be detained or charged. Nevertheless, I am on standby, waiting for them to phone me to ‘surrender’ myself to Bukit Aman, or for them to come to my house to arrest me. Either way I am waiting and am quite prepared for the prospect that this may be my last article for quite some time to come.

I attended a dinner a few weeks ago and amongst the 30 or 40 in attendance was one MCA chap who admitted he had contested the general election twice but lost on both counts. If he had contested the recent election he would have made it a perfect score of three. As they say in the US, three times and you’re out.

The host asked me to say a few words, which I did, and this was followed by a questions and answers session. Amongst the questions was one posed by the MCA chap. He wanted to know if I am still a Muslim as what I write gives an impression I have left Islam.

I noticed that the host was a bit uncomfortable. He said that that is a very personal question and added they should refrain from posing personal questions. He then turned to me and said I need not reply if I did not wish to do so. But I did wish to reply and I did.

I do not blame this MCA chap for asking me that. Being Chinese and a non-Muslim he probably does not understand what Islam is all about. In fact, many Muslims themselves do not understand Islam and to them Islam is merely the five rukun or rituals that all Muslims must perform to get ‘confirmed’ as a Muslim. more...

KHAIRY ENGGAN ULAS TENTANG 'BERUK'

malaysiakini - Naib ketua Pemuda Umno, Khairy Jamaluddin hari ini enggan menjawab bila diminta komennya terhadap cabaran supaya beliau memohon maaf kerana memanggil peserta perhimpunan Bersih November tahun lalu sebagai beruk.

"Tiada komen, terima kasih," kata Khairy selepas berulangkali diminta mengulas cabaran tersebut, ketika ditemui di luar dewan Parlimen hari ini.

Minggu lalu, ahli parlimen Puchong, Gobind Singh Deo mencabar Khairy memohon maaf terhadap kenyataan yang dibuatnya itu pada 7 November tahun lalu di perhimpunan Pemuda Umno.

Khairy membuat kenyataan tersebut ketika menggesa pihak berkuasa supaya mengambil tindakan tegas terhadap perhimpunan Bersih yang diadakan tiga hari selepas perhimpunan agung tersebut.

"Saya cabar pembangkang, jangan jadi beruk-beruk di jalanraya tetapi bertanding dalam gelanggang pilihanraya umum," kata Khairy ketika berucap menggulung perbahasan di perhimpunan Pemuda Umno di PWTC. more...
