Malaysianinsider | Veteran opposition lawmaker Lim Kit Siang urged Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak to attend the ongoing Dewan Rakyat sitting and clarify to all MPs, and not just a selected few, the truth surrounding the allegations against him.
Lim told reporters in the Parliament lobby this afternoon that Najib was behaving like a “fugitive on the run” by staying away from parliamentary sessions and refusing to answer queries from the Opposition.
The DPM has been faced with mounting pressure over swirling allegations ranging from his involvement in the Altantuya Shaariibuu murder investigation to defence commissions for the Scorpene submarines, Sukhoi jetfighters and Eurocopter helicopters.
Lim said that several Barisan Nasional (BN) backbenchers had apparently received an explanation from Najib this morning on the allegations against him.
He noted also that Najib had not denied the SMS exchanges with Datuk Shafee Abdullah who was the defence lawyer for Abdul Razak Baginda, an aide of Najib who is undergoing trial in the Altantuya murder.
“For Najib to satisfy BN MPs requires no effort,” the MP for Ipoh Timur quipped. He emphasised that Najib must meet all MPs, not only BN MPs.... selanjutnya.

Police Black Eyes
limkitsiang | ....This is the second self-administered police black-eye within a week – the other being the completely unjustified three-day 1,600-personnel police operation to lock down the Federal Capital and the Klang Valley to thwart a massive demonstration in Parliament on Monday when there was not a single protestor - causing great and unnecessary inconvenience and hardships to hundreds of thousands of people, plunging public confidence in the efficiency, competence and professionalism of the police to an all-time low.
The two self-administered “police black-eyes” in the past week raises the question whether the Royal Police Commission set up in the early months of the Abdullah premiership and which made 125 recommendations to create an efficient, incorruptible, professional world-class police service – with its most important recommendation for an Independent Police Complaints and Misconduct Commission (IPCMC) – has turned out to be a total waste of time, resources and funds!... selanjutnya.

Police Paralysis of KL and Klang Valley
bloglimkitsiang | Never before in the nation’s history has there been such a massive police mobilisation, paralysing the Federal Capital and the Klang Valley as today creating a massive traffic chaos, when there is totally no cause. It is a preview of what a Police State could be like.
In the past two days, the police had created infernal traffic congestions with roadblocks in Kuala Lumpur and the surrounding areas locking up the Klang Valley, purportedly to forestall a Pakatan Rakyat public gathering or demonstration in or near Parliament because of the Standing Order 18 no-confidence motion today which is to be presented by the Parliamentary Opposition Leader, Datuk Seri Wan Azizah Ismail after question time at 11.30 am.
The Speaker, Tan Sri Pandikar Amin Mulia not only rejected Azizah’s no-confidence motion, he also rejected my motion under Standing Order 26(1)(p) to refer the Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Musa Hassan to the Parliamentary Privileges Committee for failing to comply with the parliamentary motion dated 28th April 2008 directing the IGP to ensure that MPs are not obstructed in their passage to and from parliamentary meetings.... selanjutnya.

Abdullah putting pressure on AG to prosecute Karpal - bad and dangerous precedent
blog.limkitsiang - The Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi is setting a bad and dangerous precedent in publicly pressurizing the Attorney-General, Tan Sri Gani Patail to charge DAP National Chairman and MP for Bukit Gelugor, Karpal Singh for sedition and turn a legal issue into a political and racial one.
This is the first time in 50 years that a Prime Minister had so flagrantly and blatantly put public pressure on the Attorney-General to prosecute an Opposition leader, making a total mockery of the absolute discretion of the Attorney-General as entrenched in Article 145(3) of the Constitution “to institute, conduct or discontinue any proceedings for an offence, other than proceedings before a Syariah Court, a native court or a court-martial”.
On Thursday, Abdullah said he had instructed Umno secretary-general Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor to lodge a police report against Karpal for making allegedly seditious remarks about the Sultan of Perak when Karpal had reiterated publicly that he had not questioned Sultan Azlan Shah’s prerogatives as the state’s head of religion of Islam.
Yesterday, the Prime Minister has upped the ante by publicly demanding that the Attorney-General speed up the probe against Karpal.
Abdullah has never shown interest or concern as Prime Minister about high-profile cases, whether police reports previously made against Cabinet Ministers or recently against Umno for the series of seditious conduct against the Malay Rulers after the March 8 general election over the appointment of the Terengganu Mentri Besar.

Police going after Raja Petra Kamarudin again.
Malaysiakini has reported DSP Victor Sanjos of the cybercrimes division as saying that the police are investigating Raja Petra under the Sedition Act 1948 for incitement and also because he “commented on a case before the court made its decision”.
Any offence in the latter category would fall under “contempt of court” to be dealt with by the presiding judge for the Altantunya case. When did it become an offence under the Sedition Act?
The police action, coming immediately after the denial by Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak through his press secretary of having anything to do with the murder of Altantunya Shaariibuu, smacks of an orchestrated response to Raja Petra’s blog – and must be deplored in the strongest possible terms. - via blog.limkitsiang

Public inquiry into several billions of ringgit of Wang Ehsan “black gold” expenditures in Terengganu

limkitsiang
The constitutional crisis in Terengganu over the appointment of Datuk Ahmad Said as the new Mentri Besar has come to an end with the Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi backing off from his original nominee of the former Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Idris Jusoh.
As a result, the front-page article of former Prime Minister Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad in The Sun on “Role of rulers in picking mentri besar” has been overtaken by events.
However, Mahathir’s views on two ongoing controversies – Wang Ehsan and the judicial crisis – are very pertinent.
On the Wang Ehsan issue, Mahathir wrote:
Terengganu is blessed with petroleum deposits. It should get 5% of the total earning from oil production. The Federal Government; fearing the previous PAS government might use this money wrongly had withheld payment.
But when the Barisan Nasional (BN) regained Terengganu the money, now called “Wang Ehsan”, was lavishly spent by the Federal Government on Terengganu. It is not a small sum. Over these years “Wang Ehsan” totalled several billion. - more...

Oleh Haris Razali
pemudaumno.org.
Friday, March 14

LET'S ALL TAKE A BREAK ... Lim Apologized
Lim apologises, DAP reps to attend ceremony
Malaysiakini
The crisis which developed yesterday over the appointment of a PAS menteri besar in a DAP-led Perak state assembly seemed to have been resolved today.
DAP stalwart Lim Kit Siang who rejected the appointment of a PAS candidate today apologised for any offence caused to the Perak royalty over his statement.
“My three-paragraph statement at 7pm last night that the DAP central executive committee emergency meeting on March 9 had not given approval for a PAS mentri besar to head a Perak coalition state government was not made out of disrespect to the Perak sultan and regent, both whom I have always held in the highest regard and I apologise for any offence caused," he said.
“The statement was on the party position at the time. There have been further discussions and developments on the matter in the hours after the statement. Announcements of the latest position will be made.”
This was immediately followed by state DAP chairperson and Sitiawan state assemblyperson Ngeh Khoo Ham who told Malaysiakini that whatever misunderstanding that occurred over the matter has been clarified.
He also said that all DAP elected representatives will attend the swearing in ceremony before the Sultan of Perak in Kuala Kangsar today at 4pm.
Yesterday, just hours after the Regent of Perak agreed to the appointment of Pasir Panjang state assemblyperson and Perak PAS secretary Mohamad Nizar Jamaludin as the menteri besar, DAP leader Lim Kit Siang threw a spanner in the works, stating that his party had not approved to the appointment.
Lim said that the party had only agreed to the appointment of a menteri besar from either the DAP or the PKR.
He also said that all 18 DAP state representatives would stay away from the swearing-in ceremony for Perak mentri besar scheduled tomorrow.
Ngeh and PKR’s Behrang assemblyperson Jamaluddin Mohd Radzi were the other two candidates who were in the running for the menteri besar post.
Palace released letter
Yesterday, after meeting the regent, Nizar, Ngeh and Jamaluddin told reporters that the regent had agreed with the appointment of Nizar as the menteri besar and that Ngeh would be the deputy menteri besar (1) and an Indian candidate from PKR to be the second deputy menteri besar.
Late last night, soon after Lim's statement was released, the Perak palace released the letter which stated that all three parties, including the DAP, had agreed to the decision of the sultan.
Ngeh’s clarification today comes as a welcome relief to some who were worried that Lim’s stand would cause severe rift among the opposition not just in Perak but nationwide.
Of a total of 59 state seats, DAP controls 18 seats while PKR has seven and PAS six, making a total of 31. The remaining 28 are in the hands of BN.

DAP will be attending the swearing-in
More on DAP and Perak
cheekydruid
The latest news is that the Perak DAP assemblymen will be attending the swearing-in ceremony in defiance of Lim Kit Siang. While this is more positive, I fear that much of the damage has already been done. It will take quite a bit of work to patch up the holes created in the new coalition.
Some say LKS and DAP were put in an impossible situation. If they had accepted the PAS MB, many non-Muslim voters would be outraged. Not a surprising thought given that MCA is already fueling the fires. On the other hand, outright rejection of Nizar Jamaluddin (the new MB) has also angered a large section of their voters and thrown the future and status of the Perak government into doubt. Either way, they'll alienate a significant number of voters.
But is this really so? Is there no other alternative? On the contrary, I think there was a 3rd option. What DAP should have done is to stand by Nizar, accept the Sultan's decision and attempt to explain to objecting voters why this has to be so. There are many good reasons why Nizar was selected, no few of them pragmatic ones. Like it or not, politics is less about idealism (though I fail to see how DAP's Malaysian Malaysia ideals are advanced by this stance) and more about pragmatism. No doubt, some voters will still remain angry and turn away from DAP and BR. But the overall result would have been much more positive.
All things being said, I think PAS has handled this difficult situation rather well. To quote from The Star:
PAS secretary-general Datuk Kamaruddin Jaafar said he was quite disappointed that things were not going as smoothly as they should have.
“We are trying to sort this out again to save the Opposition government,” he said.
And:
“But obviously the state DAP had not checked with the national DAP,” he added.

DAP UNTUK RAKYAT ATAU UNTUK CINA?
Radenjowo
Hala tuju mereka sama. Adakah untuk rakyat semua bangsa? Kalau anda mampu, fikirkan. Tanya diri ....
Dengan Lim Kit Siang, tembelang DAP akan terbongkar .... Tunggukan. Tapi ingat rakyat Malaysia, kita mampu tolak UMNO dan kita juga mampu tolak DAP? Kita tunggukan berita hari ini. Kalau makin kurang ajar, kita kena kasi ajar.

Wake up uncle lim. Dap Perak has woken up.
obscure-thoughts
uPDATE: Perak DAP defy Lim kit siang's order
If uncle lim fails to see the uproar of the public in his "crazy" turn around to call for the boycott of the Perak Menteri Besar from Pas,'s swearing in ceremony , he must be blind, dumb, stupid and absolutely idiotic. However, i do understand where he is coming from. Getting comments like Ong Ka Chuan's Perak voters cheated is probably what drove LKS to issue such a statement.
Uncle lim, MCA is so yesteryear man!
if so, all other DAP candidates must voice out their stand, or stand to suffer the same fate as Koh Tsu Koon and Samy vellu in the coming elections.
Yes, we all know what's DAP basic tenet - to support a secular state with no NEP ya da ya da. But didn't he and the rest of DAP wake up to the fact that majority of the people now, WANT A RACE FREE country? Religion has also been relegated to second priority issues.
Uncle lim oh uncle lim. wake up before everyone hates DAP.

KENAPA KIT SIANG BODOH SANGAT ?
Radenjowo
Bila pelajar ditemubual maka pelajar pun menceritakan semua cerita suspen tentang keganasan penyokong pas.
Bila LIM KIT SIANG membantah perlantikan calun PAS menjadi Menteri BEsar Perak, wartawan cukup gembira.
Sultan tetap Sultan apa sahaja arahan kena ambil kira. Itu Kit Siang kena ingat !!!
Sejauh mana kita nak hidup bermuhibbah. Sejauh mana kita nak hidup bersama lain lain bangsa. Tapi Cina bagaimana?
Raja Petra sanggup turun semata mata untuk bersama DAP memperjuangkan hak rakyat tetapi rupanya CIna kolot ni lain agendanya. Bangsa melayu dan India sanggup gonggong bendera DAP sedangkan aku tak nampak Cina angkat bendera PAS pun.
Kita tunggu hari ini, kalau Kit Siang masih degil dan keras hati, wak cadangkan agar kita turun padang sekali lagi. Penuhkan bandaraya Ipoh untuk tuntut agar Kit Siang dijatuhkan. Bukan soal kaum, tapi tentang pemimpin Gila Kuasa. Penuhkan semua bandar besar negeri KERAJAAN BA untuk BOIKOT. Biar Kit Siang tahu, hidungnya jangan nak mancung, pipi jangan cuba nak sorong sorong.
Suara rakyat, suara keramat. Ingat tu Kit Siang !!!

Penyu Menangis, Kit Siang Bukan Tahu!
kickdefella
Penyu Menangis Kit Siang Bukan Tahu!

Be a 'jantan' Lim Kit Siang?
alditta
I dont really understand what's this fellow (LKS) up to? Read here.
I thought, what the opposition had achieved after last saturday's election is a sign for a much better time for them, but with this silly move by LKS & DAP, now,it seems like the opposition is heading to nowhere. This is gonna be the mainstream media headlines.
To save Malaysia from the BN/UMNO pillagers, the opposition got to unite, or at least work together, otherwise they can just forget about governing Malaysia for good, and I do not want my grandchildren to blame you for that.
Please reconsider your move Mr.Lim Kit Siang.
cheers.

Are you ok, Kit Siang?
skthew.com
Less than a week after the Opposition camps swept to an unprecedented win in a few states in the GE 2008, DAP supremo Lim Kit Siang turned into unruly behavior with regarding to the appointment of the new Perak MB by the Regent of Perak Raja Nazrin Shah.
I think it’s very rude for him to snub the decision made by Raja Nazrin, given that prior to the appointment, Perak DAP chairperson and Sitiawan state assemblyperson Ngeh Khoo Ham, who spoke for the coalition, told reporters that all three parties would unanimously respect the decision of the sultan and cooperate to form the new state government.
Hence, when names of three nominees,, each from DAP, PKR and PAS respectively were submitted to Raja Nazrin, I thought the coalition has made the right choice as Raja Nazrin has been a respected ruler by every level of society and popular of always taking a fair and impartial stance on various issues.
Now, the decision has been made by the Palace that Pasir Panjang state assemblyperson and Perak PAS secretary Mohamad Nizar Jamaludin was confirmed as the new MB of the state.
The outburst by Kit Siang in such a disgraceful manner is really uncalled for, given that the appointment of the MB is the prerogative of the sultan alone. Worse, his decision to call upon DAP Perak Assemblymen to stay away from the swearing-in ceremony for Perak MB scheduled tomorrow is turning the Perak’s political landscape into turmoil and merely providing more opportunities for the Opposition in the states, which happened to the BN component parties to capitalize on this unfortunate event.
For the sake of the fellow Perak-ian who have entrusted the Opposition pact to form the next State government, I strongly urge Kit Siang to do the right thing by quickly retracting the irresponsible statement as well as apologize to Raja Nazrin for his unruly behavior, in which subsequently will provide a clear passageway for the formation of next State Government and get down to work immediately.
Any further delay is going to be a disaster for the Opposition pact, as well as the Perak-ian who casted their votes for the Opposition.
On additional note, since Opposition has gained inroad in this GE 2008, I think it’s an admirable achievement as this is the first time where the Barisan Nasional (BN) suffered the heaviest defeat ever since 1969, hence it’s appropriate and also it’s time for Kit Siang to take a backseat, rather than being seen as a dictator who continue to dictate the party’s future.

Lim Kit Siang, you're starting to show you're a Senile old man.
bytemuncher
I am shocked YOU'RE shocked over the appointment of PAS Assemblyman Mohamad Nizar Jamaludin as Perak Mentri Besar. I thought it was agreed that all parties would support the choices made by the Perak Sultan in the choices made ?
Perak was won by a thin margin and though most urban voters are Chinese and DAP won most of the seats, the Malay voters should be thanked for swinging over to the opposition. No matter what, do not bite more than you can chew. It is a starting point to a true multi-racial choice. Give the Perak people some time.
You have not even proven yourself in Perak yet and you're already showing such 'disgusts' about the choice made by the Perak Sultan. What disgusts me is your intention not to attend the swearing in ceremony as evidenced by your statement below:
"As the appointment of PAS Assemblyman for Pasir Panjang Mohamad Nizar Jamaludin as Perak Mentri Besar representing the third and smallest political party in the proposed coalition has not received the mandate of the CEC, DAP Perak Assemblymen will stay away from the swearing-in ceremony for Perak Mentri Besar scheduled tomorrow."
This is such an anal retentive reaction and it smacks of disrespect to the royalty in Perak. In my opinion they made the right choice to choose a qualified Muslim Malay capable of the post from the 3 choices submitted. It is still a sensitive matter to put a non-muslim there because it would be pushing it too far and very risky, in case the Malay voters swing again back to BN if you give BN a weapon to use against the opposition in the next election. After all, it is already agreed to give the Sultan the choices and to accept the final decision, why are you being so anal retentive about the choices made?
Please have some bloody patience you old gook. Making statements like these just goes to show you're also a bit out of touch of the reality of what the real situation in Perak is like. The boycott of the swearing in is the STUPIDEST move you're going to make. Even if you're playing to your hardcore DAP audience who insist on a DAP MB because of the vote majority commanded, I believe it's not right to make a public statement to boycott the swearing in ceremony.
Your behaviour sounds like that of a typical sore senile old man. I hope you're reading this and I mince no words when I slam politicians.
Stop playing this type of wayang politics or else you will forever be branded as a Chinese party.

AN OPEN LETTER TO DAP

Malaysiatoday
I am a Malaysian Chinese residing in Petaling Jaya and had voted for your party's candidates in the 12th GE.
I had attended practically all your party's ceramahs in the PJU and nearby areas. In the ceramahs, your speakers had continuously stressed the importance of a multiracial government that takes care of its rakyat regardless of status, race and religion.
It is therefore a great shock and disappointment to hear that the DAP is calling its Perak state assemblymen to boycott the swearing-in ceremony of the new Perak MB tomorrow just because the MB is from PAS. I feel very much let down by this decision.
Firstly, your party calls for the establishment of a Malaysian Malaysia. Isn't PAS part of Malaysian Malaysia. Or are you telling us now that just because they are from PAS, they are not? Then in the first place, you should not have ask the voters, especially your supporters, to vote for the 'Bulan' knowing fully well it is referring to PAS. If you can ask voters, especially your supporters, to vote for PAS, then why can't your party now accept a PAS assemblyman to head the state government. I was led to believe that as long as a person is qualified, he will be supported. As many speakers said in your ceramahs, 'It doesn't matter whether it is a white cat or a black cat, as long as it is able to catch rat, it is a good cat.' Doesn't the same argument holds, whether the MB is from PAS, DAP or PKR, as long as he is able to look after the welfare of the rakyat, then he is a good MB.
Secondly, if a candidate from PAS cannot be accepted by the DAP, then why in the first place you decide to set up a coalition government with them? The argument that you can cooperate with the six PAS assemblymen and yet can't accept a PAS member as the Perak MB does not hold water. Are you trying to fool us just like what the BN government had done over the last 50 years? Don't think that the public is stupid. How can we, the rakyat, trust you now when even before the state government is set up, you are already fighting among yourselves in the so-called 'Barisan Rakyat' coalition.
Thirdly, your party's Perak state chairman Mr Ngeh Koo Ham had repeatedly said that DAP, PKR and PAS will abide by any decision made by the Sultan on the Perak MB. Now that a decision had been reached, you are going back on your words. As I recall from one of the speeches by Mr Gobind Singh Deo in SS2 on March 7 in which he said, "A politician must be responsible for what he said. After making a statement, he cannot then said that he is saying things in a sarcastic manner etc so as to deny his earlier statement." Mr Gobind Singh said this when commenting on Tun Mahathir's statement that when he said Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim was innocent, he was being sarcastic about it. The same standard should then be applied to all DAP party leaders and speakers. You must be responsible and accountable for what you say. When you said that you will accept the decision made by the Sultan, then you must stand by what you had said. Going back on your words now can only show that the BN is right and that your party leaders, especially Mr Lim Kit Siang, is only going after personal glory/power without any regard to the well-being of the rakyat and the party. DAP would then be just a party that is "cakap tak serupa bikin".
Fourthly, your party has not come out with any reason for the rejection of the PAS assemblyman as the Perak MB. I, as a voter that voted for your party, demand to know the reason behind this decision. Your party had always stressed the importance of accountability and transparency in your election manifesto. Now, please 'walk the talk' by also being transparent and explain your decision to the public. Anything less would make you no better than the BN government which 50% of the peninsula rakyat had just rejected. Anything less would also guarantee that the rakyat would make their voices heard again in the next general election, voting against the DAP.
There are many more reasons for my feeling of utter disgust and consternation for this decision made by your party's CEC. However, I will keep them to myself at this moment.
On the morning of March 9, 2008, I truly believe that a new era has dawned on Malaysia as we are finally able to transcend race and religion in our efforts to make Malaysia the truly great country that she should be. A truly Malaysian Malaysia. Sadly, just three days later, that new era does not even have a chance to begin as the group of leaders that are supposed to lead us there are now fighting among themselves for whatever reasons best known to them.
How can we move forward as a nation when we have leaders that are so selfish, egocentric and who don't practice what they preached? Is our country forever going to be mired in mediocrity amidst a culture of intolerance, suspicion, fear, corruption and cronyism?
I sincerely thought that DAP is part of the future and a cure of our country's ills. However, this decision by your CEC had shown that DAP is a party of the past. It is already blinded by its election success and is no longer in touch with the aspirations of the rakyat to build a nation based on trust, integrity, tolerance, responsibility and accountability, regardless of status, race and religion. You had forgotten that the rakyat is the boss that voted for you and put you there to serve us. You had betrayed your voters and had rejected the rakyat's wish to move forward to form a Malaysian Malaysia.
I rest my case.

Dear bloggers…, we have been throwing all our words from deep heart... Have all the messages being conveyed? Is there any of those who today becoming MP/ADUN/etc... getting our message? Have they forgotten what they are fighting for before 8 March?
