Menteri Kewangan dan Pertahanan bertukar tangan

malaysiakini | Perdana Menteri, Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi hari melepaskan jawatan menteri kewangan menyerahkannya kepada Timbalannya, Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.

Berikutan, Abdullah mengumumkan yang beliau mengambil alih jawatan menteri pertahanan dari Najib.

Abdullah memberitahu sidang akhbar tengah hari ini bahawa Najib dilantik sebagai menteri kewangan berkuatkuasa serta merta.

Perdana menteri yang memegang jawatan tersebut sejak 2004 berkata, beliau telah memaklumkan kepada kabinet mengenai keputusannya.

Kedua-dua juga mengesahkan komitmen mereka untuk berpegang kepada pelan peralihan kuasa pada 2010.

Bagaimanapun, Abdullah berkata, beliau mungkin melepas jawatan lebih awal daripada 2010 bergantung kepada prestasi Najib.

TV3 cameramen attacked by Africans

Star | A TELEVISION crew on a special assignment was attacked by 20 African men in Cheras, reported Harian Metro.

The crew was filming a special report at Taman Connaught on Monday, when they were assaulted by the men at about 1.10am.

It is that learnt the group became violent after a misunderstanding as the camera crew tried to record the front entrance of a locally-owned restaurant there.

TV3 cameraman Nor Azman Jumahat, 34, and his assistant Fauzi Muin, 31, sustained minor injuries on their head, hands and abdomen.... selanjutnya.

Police report against Khir Toyo

Star | Kampung Tunku assemblyman Lau Weng San has lodged a police report against former Selangor Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Mohamad Khir Toyo for allegedly making a false statement on his blog (www.drkhir.blogspot.com)

The content of the blog was subsequently published in a Malay daily on Sept 9. Lau said Dr Khir’s statement and the report from the daily accused Seputeh MP Teresa Kok of being responsible in spearheading a campaign to ban the broadcast of azan (Muslim call to prayer) on loudspeakers.

He lodged the report at the police headquarters here at 11am yesterday. Lau said that the mosques had denied Kok’s involvement in the allegation.

“This whole misunderstanding was even explained by a blogger (pembelamelayu.blogspot.com) and yet Dr Khir paid no attention to it,” he said.... selanjutnya.

Politician’s son freed on police bail

Star | ...The son of a senior MIC politician who was arrested in connection with the murder of former Tenggaroh state assemblyman Datuk S. Krishnasamy has been released on police bail.

The 36-year-old suspect, who was first arrested on Sept 5, had been held in remand until Sunday before he was released and rearrested under the Emergency Ordinance.

Acting Johor CID chief Asst Comm Che Yusoff Che Ngah, who confirmed the case, said the other suspect, a 38-year-old businessman, had been remanded for another five days.

The suspect was remanded until Sept 21 at a magistrate’s court here yesterday.... selanjutnya.

Standing shoulder to shoulder with DAP adviser Lim Kit Siang and Parti Keadilan Rakyat vice-president Datuk Dr Jeffrey Kitingan, SAPP president Datuk Yong Teck Lee gave the clearest indication of what his stand would be at the party’s supreme council meeting today.

Kenyataan Shamsul Iskandar tentang 16 September

Malam tadi, Shamsul Iskandar Mat Akin telah berkesempatan menghadiri upacara pemberian bantuan kepada anak anak yatim di sebuah Restoran di Kelang. Bertempat di Restoran Warisan Asli di Bandar Bukit Tinggi, Shamsul memberikan serba sedikit info tentang 16 September di dalam Tazkirah Politik yang turut di hadiri oleh sekumpulan lebih 100 orang pemimpin Angkatan Muda Keadilan Negeri Selangor.

Beliau turut menjadi saksi sememangnya terdapat antara 30 ke 40 orang MP yang telah menandatangani borang menyertai Pakatan Rakyat. Enggan memberikan jumlah sebenar dan nama ahli BN yang lompat parti di atas beberapa sebab keselamatan.

Di dalam Tazkirah politiknya lagi, langkah seterus yang akan di ambil oleh pemimpin Pakatan Rakyat adalah menemui Yang di Pertuan Agong untuk membuktikan senarai tersebut adalah benar.

Senarai nama tidak akan di dedahkan kerana bimbang berhadapan dengan 'kerajaan Gila' Barisan Nasional yang sanggup menggunakan kaedah ISA untuk menghalang pembentukan kerajaan Baru. Pengalaman berhadapan dengan Barisan Nasional cukup membuat Pakatan Rakyat bimbang kalau kalau tindakan seumpama yang berlaku kepada Raja Petra dan Teressa Kok akan berulang kembali. Akibatnya, teman teman yang baru melompat parti akan menerima nasih yang serupa.

Usaha pertemuan bersama Perdana menteri, di jadikan sebagai langkah berjaga jaga agar tindakan perubahan kuasa tidak menjadi modal oleh kerajaan BN untuk mencetuskan huru hara perkauman. Menurut beliau lagi, Pak Lah turut menjadi contoh bahawa tidak perlunya Parlimen bersidang untuk menjadi untuk menjadi kan seseorang itu sebagai Perdana menteri. Cukup sekadar Jumlah MP yang cukup menyokong untuk menjadi Perdana menteri di depan Yang di Pertuan Agung dan di ikuti dengan acara bersumpah.

Langkah terperinci dan teratur perlu di lakukan agar peralihan kuasa di lakukan dengan suasana tenang dan aman damai.

My two girls and I managed to see RPK at 11:00am this morning (16 September) at the Bukit Aman Police HQ.

He has been sleeping on a wooden platform without any pillow or bedding.
He looked drawn and drained but still alert.

I started informed him that the support he has at home and abroad is keeping us strong and that should be enough for him too to continue to be strong. I also told him that the Pakatan Raykat has the numbers to form the next government and it is just a matter of time that we would soon get him out.

He has lost weight and his sugar level has dived from 8 to 4. I urged him to eat and to drink a lot of water. In fact we brought him his favorites: a 6-pack coke, chocolates, fresh plums, shepherd’s pie and caramel custard. Raja Petra asked us to take them back. He said that those interrogating him would try to use these food items as inducements to get him to co-operate. RPK said he did not want to be beholden to them. They will use favours they grudgingly grant and use these as trade offs.

He complained that the food supplied is such that our two cats will not even eat. But I encouraged him that despite that, he has to eat. He replied that he has no appetite and that most of the time he is tired as they are interrogating him incessantly. They come to his cell (8X8 concrete box without windows) and harass him at all hours of the day and night taking hourly turns having a video camera at all times. One time they brought a prayer mat and the Koran to his cell and just said so you don’t want this and took it away recording all this.

MCA: Release Kok, RPK from ISA

Star | The MCA has called for Seputeh MP Teresa Kok and Malaysia Today editor Raja Petra Kamaruddin to be released from their arrests under the Internal Security Act (ISA).

MCA president Datuk Seri Ong Ka Ting said Kok and Raja Petra should be investigated under other laws and be charged in court if there was evidence.

“To prevent possible future abuse of the ISA, the MCA central committee calls for a comprehensive review of the ISA so that it will apply strictly to cases relating to terrorism and subversive elements.... selanjutnya.

Najib sets up website, invites all views

Star | Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak became the latest leader to try and reach to an increasingly Internet-savvy electorate by setting up his own website called 1Malaysia.

In an introductory video, the Deputy Prime Minister said he hoped the site would develop into a free and open platform for dialogue.

“Rational dialogue,” he noted, “to discuss the things that matter deeply to us as a nation.”

“While I may not always agree with you, be assured that your views will be heard,” he said, adding that he welcomed different views and perspectives.
