Where is all the tax money going?

malaysiatoday - [...] I do not want to elaborate on sales tax though it is a substantial form of revenue but I would like to touch on stamp duty. I remember paying about RM20,000 in stamp duty when I bought my house recently.

And I am just one person. What about the thousands who transact property everyday? Thousands of sale and purchase agreements for properties are done daily.

Stamp duty alone is this formula:

i) for the 1st RM100,000.000 - 1% i.e. 1/100 x RM100,000.00 = RM1,000

ii) for the next RM400,000.00 or part thereof - 2% i.e. 2/100 x RM400,000.00=RM8,000

iii) above RM500,000.00 - 3% i.e. 3/100 x any sum above RM500,000

So,the government makes loads of money from just stamp duty on property alone. Maybe its high time to channel a substantial sum to building more universities and hospitals?

And don't forget personal income tax which also brings in billions. The list goes on, house assessment rates, quit rent, road tax etc.

Malaysia is blessed with little calamities. Unlike other countries where there are earthquakes and tornados which cause billions in damage, we don't have to fork out a lot of money to repair damaged infrastructure or in aid for victims of natural calamities.

Sapp leaders 'threatened', says party boss

ctchoolaw - Not that it was unexpected. But to read in Malaysiakini (see http://www.malaysiakini.com/news/84913) that the 2 SAPP MPs have received threats just makes me angry, sad and frustrated...all at the same time.

This is the quality of Malaysian politics. This is the reason why many of our generation's best and brightest stayed away from politics. This is also the reason why we stand in salute to the heroic deeds of Lim Kit Siang, Karpal Singh, Lim Guan Eng, Wee Choo Keong, Anwar Ibrahim...the list goes on. These are the true Malaysian heroes who have been arrested and detained without trial under the odious Internal Security Act. In the case of Guan Eng, he was unfairly charged, tried and convicted under the Sedition Act for defending a helpless 15-year old Malay girl that was allegedly raped by the then-serving Chief Minister of Malacca. So much sacrificed.

And, now, the gangster-style of Malaysian politics has resurfaced in Sabah against the hapless SAPP MPs. This is a low tactic. I dare say, having read The Prince, that Machiavelli would not have countenanced such a low tactic. 24% miskin jika PGK RM1,500

Paras Garis Kemiskinan (PGK) negara sekarang akan dikemaskini dengan mengambil kira keadaan inflasi semasa, kata menteri di Jabatan Perdana Menteri, Tan Sri Amirsham Abdul Aziz hari ini.

PGK yang diguna pakai kini belum mengambil kira kesan kenaikan harga minyak baru-baru ini, tambahnya.

"Kerajaan memang sedar kesan inflasi dan kenaikan harga barangan yang dihadapi oleh negara pada masa ini akan mempengaruhi perbelanjaan isi rumah.

Aku nak mencarut - Kerajaan cukup takut nak naikkan PGK kepada satu paras yang lebih tinggi. Alasannya kenaikan itu akan menaikkan jumlah makhluk miskin kat negara kepada 24.3%. Bila naik peratus kemiskinan, kerajaan Malaysia akan tergolong diantara kerajaan yang gagal dan bodoh. Yang si bahalol tu naikkan harga minyak dalam masa sehari tak per, nak naikkan paras garis kemiskinan dok berbalah balah .... apa ke binatang diorang ni?

Obviously the younger generations are very different and they are disgruntled. They disagree with the old thinking. This is why the tsunami came. We no longer accept the kind of rubbish that’s been around for too long (Sad to say that some BN goons still don’t get it. They are still living in the 70’s). We are no longer living in an era whereby information moves slowly. We are more knowledgeable because of internet. We quickly learned about “Makkal Sakthi”. We quickly learned about the loopholes in our country and we want improvement. Can you imagine if there’s no internet, no CNN, no CNBC and all the things you read in the newspapers are just mere lies, what would have happen? You and I will still be happily chanting “Hidup Barisan”.

What the older people don’t understand is, I want a balance. No, I don’t want any trouble either. I want free and fair Governance that will look upon me as Malaysian. No, I don’t want Pakatan Rakyat to takeover and become the next arrogant party like BN. Ignoring people’s cry and ruling arrogantly is the last thing I ever want. Shahrir Confirmed Kickdefella’s Finding

kickdefella - [...] In page 8 in today ( Monday, June 23, 2008 ) New Straits Times, Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Minister, Shahrir Abdul Samad was reported as saying, “…last year the subsidy bill, excluding food and fuel was RM9.2 B”.

With that Shahrir confirmed Kickdefella’s finding that fuel subsidy (and food too) is not in the treasury reports and also not included in the budget.

Shahrir however contradict himself when he points out that, “Add food and fuel and it (the subsidy spent) came to over RM30 B”.

There seems Shahrir himself is getting dumber and dumber each day.

• How can government spent RM30B extra without reporting it to Parliament.
• How can government used extra RM30B and it goes unrecorded in the Treasury records.
• Why did the government did not reveal the real amount she spend or planning to spend it in the budget when they presented it to the Parliament each year.
• The Second Finance Minister, Nor Yakcob claimed the government spent RM35B alone for fuel subsidy but Shahrir claimed RM30B and that already included food subsidy too.
• What is the actual amount the government spent on subsidy?
• Is there other subsidy too that the government spent such as “Subsidy for Abdullah’s daily usage of diapers” or “Rosmah’s C4 allocation” which goes unrecorded?
• Do the government actually spend money for subsidy?

My fellow Malaysian, does the government actually spend money on subsidy?

My findings show that the amount of subsidy which government claimed totalling from RM30B to RM50B depending on whose big mouth you want to believe is not recorded anywhere. If the government actually spend those amounts, it should be listed in their reports.... selanjutnya.
