NST - Mt Anak Krakatau in the Sunda Strait which erupted on Wednesday night at 9 p.m West Indonesia Time started to hurl red-hot rocks from its southern crater, Indonesia’s Antara news agency reported.
Head of the monitoring post in Serang regency, Anton Tripambudi, said the red-hot rocks hurled by the volcano could be seen very clearly from the Anyer coast, which is an indication that the volcanic tremors would increase.
And its activity has even become uncontrollable as the fire balls from its crater had reached an altitude of up to 600 metres.
Thundering sounds are also heard if one were to approach the volcano within a radius of three kilometers from its crater.
He said the volcanic tremors have increased in frequency after the Volcanology, Mitigation, and Geological Disaster Centre in Bandung raised the volcano’s alert status to level III.
He said that the fireballs going up from the crater could be easily seen especially during the night from the monitoring post in Pasauran village.
