Bread and butter issues dominate PM's website
Bread and butter and not political issues make up the bulk of messages sent to the Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi through his website www.warkahuntukpm.com.my.
The website which is managed and monitored by the Malay Research and Strategy Foundation found that 27.5 per cent of the messages received since early last month were related to the current economic situation, education, public service delivery, development and employment issues.
The foundation chief executive Datuk Radzi Latiff said in a media statement yesterday that the messages received just before the elections were hardly political in nature.
Warkah Untuk PM was launched by Datuk Seri Najib Razak on March 1 as a direct channel for the public to address any grievance or suggest ideas for national betterment to the prime minister.
At its height just before polling day, 2,218 messages were sent to the website. Thirty-one per cent of the messages were from private sector followed by professional and government sectors.
In addition, 74 per cent or 14,045 of senders were male with the majority of them between 21 and 35-years-old.
All messages related to public service delivery will be dealt with directly by the respective ministries for action while policy-related issues will be referred to the prime minister himself, Radzi said. - NST
