Guan Eng to look for missing files

Malaysiatoday

Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng has promised to look for the files that have reportedly gone missing from the offices of executive councillors.

Lim said he would check with the state secretariat.

Asked whether it was true that executive councillors of the previous administration had been directed to remove their files from the offices, Lim said: "This is the first time that I have heard about it. Let me check with the state Secretary Datuk Jamaludin Hasan."

State Health, Welfare and Caring Society Committee chairman Phee Boon Poh had claimed that he walked into an empty office in Komtar on Monday.

Phee said files were missing and there were no documents for reference.

Former executive councillor P.K. Subbaiyah said all executive councillors were told by the state secretary to clear out and vacate their offices.

Jamaludin, who was with Lim at the first get-together session with civil servants yesterday, declined to comment.

Lim said he would have a discussion with Jamaludin.

Meanwhile, Lim said the police had not issued any permit for any group to hold a gathering in conjunction with the Maulidur Rasul celebrations tomorrow.

He said there were rumours that a large gathering would be held tomorrow and it had created uneasiness among people.

"Let me give an assurance that the state government and the police are in control of the situation."

Lim urged those intending to organise a gathering to choose another date.

"They should allow the Maulidur Rasul celebrations to proceed smoothly."
