These illegal immigrants crammed themselves into a boat, determined to flee the country without being detected by the Malaysian authorities. The 14 men and nine women aged between 19 and 54, braved a stifling ride from Johor to Batam, Indonesia. They are believed to have paid between RM200 and RM300 for the journey back to their country. The Southern Region Marine Police RH8 patrol vessel caught sight of the suspicious-looking boat and gave chase, resulting in the arrest of the immigrants about 1.5 nautical miles off Sungai Rengit, Kota Tinggi. They were without valid travel documents. - NST
