Girl who followed lover to Indonesia to return

Another young woman who went missing after following her "boyfriend" back to Indonesia has been located.

Nurul Wahida Hamzah, then 17, went missing from her home in Chenderong Balai, Teluk Intan, Perak in 2005.

It was believed that Nurul, who had just completed her SPM examinations, developed a relationship with a 40-year-old Indonesian construction worker, M. Yusup, and promptly went with him to Lombok Timur in eastern Indonesia.

After three years of searching, Nurul's family had lost all hope of ever finding her.

However, her cousin, Fairuz Sulaiman, contacted the Indonesian-based non-governmental organisation Migrant Care after hearing of its success in locating 13-year-old Che Siti Nor Azreen, who was reunited recently with her family.
Migrant Care Malaysian representative Alex Ong said Fairuz received a tip-off on his cousin's whereabouts and needed the NGO's help in contacting her. More...
