kadirjasin | SEDIKIT penjelasan. Blog ini tidak mogok.
We’re open for business as usual.
Ya, kita menyampah, mual dan loya dengan permainan politik para pembesar dan masalah yang mereka bebankan ke atas bahu rakyat jelata.
Yes, we’re fed-up with their infantile behaviour and antics, their mudslinging and washing filthy linen in public. But we’re not striking. That’s not our way of protesting.
You think Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, Mohd Najib Abdul Razak, Anwar Ibrahim and a host of other VIPs care if we strike?
I think they’re happy if we go on strike. Better still if we close our blogs for good.
Pucuk dicita, ulam mendatang. Orang mengantuk disorongkan bantal.
They cannot accept the reality that the online media are here to stay and people are no longer listening only to the mainstream media.
Blogger Jailani Harun (Just Read) noted that Minister in the PMD, Mohd Zahid Hamidi, had made a statement in Jakarta urging Malaysians who are staying abroad not to read blogs about Malaysia.
Zahid, a throwback of Anwar Ibrahim’s Umno era, had told his audience that contents of Malaysian blogs are “mere lies” and urged them to read the official news portal “for real political news.”
I am pleased to note that there are overseas Malaysians who read this humble blog of ours and participate regularly in our debate.
I think they will continue to read blogs and independent news portals alongside official news portals to compare news so to speak.
Take the reports on the anti-oil price hike in Kelana Jaya last night.
Bernama said: “PETALING JAYA, July 7 (Bernama) -- The plan by the Coalition Against the Fuel Price Hike (Protes) to gather one million people to pressure the government to reduce the oil price, fell well short of the target when only about 10,000 people turned up at the Petaling Jaya City Council Stadium, near here, Sunday night.”
But Malaysikini reported: “Coalition Against Inflation (Protes) estimated 30,000 people were in the stadium to hear Anwar (Ibrahim), turning the football field into a sea of red T-shirts.”
So, in short, the people will continue to read blogs and independent news portals no matter how hard the likes of Zahid try to spook and discourage them.
And for that reason, we in this blog are not going on strike or throw in the towel, God willing.
