Blogger MP Jeff Ooi assertions lend credence to DAP reps switching sides to BN
malaysianinsider - More than 60 days after the 12th general election, rumours are still rife that some state assemblymen from the Pakatan Rakyat (PR) coalition that forms the Perak government may "hop" over to the Barisan Nasional (BN).
Lately, a Member of Parliament (MP), who was formerly in Gerakan but contested in the March 8 general election on a DAP ticket, said several state assemblymen from the Perak coalition will join the BN soon.
Penang MP for Jelutong, Jeff Ooi, wrote in his blog last night that efforts to entice several BN MPs, said be interested to come into the PR fold, "will face a setback should defections among Perak state assemblymen into the BN basket, orchestrated to enable (Prime Minister Datuk Seri) Abdullah (Ahmad Badawi) to wrestle the state back into his fragile administration, happen at break-neck pace in the next few days."
Ooi's assertions caused the name of Jelapang state assemblyman of the DAP, Hee Yit Foong, to be listed as among those who will join BN. Hee, however, has vehemently denied that she will cross over to the BN although she confirmed that she was asked to jump over and to name a price.
Perak DAP chairman Datuk Ngeh Khoo Ham, who is also a senior state executive councillor, last night denied the rumours as not being anything new.
The validity of the new "party hopping" assertions is also a question mark among BN component parties in Perak.
