Probe focused on prosecuting Azilah with Altantuya's murder, says Tonny

sun2surf - [...] Tonny, who is the prosecution’s 75th witness in the trial, agreed with Azilah’s counsel J. Kuldeep Kumar that the statements and evidence collected during the course of investigations was only for the purpose of prosecuting Azilah.

Azilah is charged together with Cpl Sirul Azhar Umar for murdering Mongolian Altantuya at a jungle clearing in Mukim Bukit Raja between 10pm on Oct 19 and 1am on Oct 20, 2006. Political analyst Abdul Razak Baginda is charged with abetting them.

Earlier, during cross-examination, he told Kuldeep that he had checked on Azilah’s assignment on Oct 19 – the day Altantuya went missing.

Tonny said he knew that Azilah had been assigned to escort a VIP to Hongkong that night but said he did not think it was important to check who else had been assigned together with him.

He also said he was not interested to investigate the movement of the Glock EAH 387 gun that Azilah had and said he did not think it was important to check on this even for the purpose of investigating the claims made in a notice of alibi filed on May 24 last year.

Tonny told Kuldeep that he knew that Azilah’s assignment to HongKong had been cancelled at 5.30pm on Oct 19 and that he had been assigned to another official duty at Putrajaya that same night.

He said he did not know that Azilah had asked assistant officer on duty Sgt Ramli Harun to put the Glock in a safety box at 7.30pm that day.

However, he disagreed with Kuldeep that he would not have known that Azilah had returned to collect the weapon at 10.18pm that same day....selanjutnya [KLIK DI SINI]
