Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi tabling the mid-term review of the Ninth Malaysia Plan today.
malaysianinsider - [...] Lim Kit Siang (DAP-Ipoh Timur): "Nothing much was exciting from the review today. The only thing that I found exciting was the last part of the speech when he talked about the power (rampasan kuasa)."
Datin Seri Wan Azizah Wan Ismail (PKR-Permatang Pauh): "There were a lot of contradictions in the Prime Minister’s speech. On one hand he said that the country needed funds and that's why we had a petrol price hike.
"On the other hand he said that the government will not burden the people especially the lower-income group. But that's what actually happened when fuel prices were increased."
Dr Dzulkifli Ahmad (PAS-Kuala Selangor): "Despite all the good numbers in the report, the rakyat’s concern is on what they experienced, especially from the increase in fuel prices. For those who are in the lower-income group, are they better off? This is what the people want to know."
Mahfuz Omar (PAS-Pokok Sena): "There is nothing new in the plan, I think the government is basically chasing shadows. The government has revealed that they are going to improve a number of things, but prices of goods and fuel continue to soar and I don't really see anything new or concrete in the management of the funds."
Datuk Bung Moktar Radin (BN-Kinabatangan): "From the review we can see that the government is committed towards helping the lower- and middle-income groups deal with the rising prices of fuel and other goods.
"However, the focus should be on how to implement the plans in a way that it would be able to benefit the people. More focus should also be given towards providing Sabah and Sarawak with basic infrastructure."... selanjutnya.
