Suspect held over soldier's death

NST - Police have detained one suspect in connection with the death of private Mohd Sharizal Mohd Shaffie in the lock-up of the Sungai Besi army camp on Sunday.
Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Muhammad Sabtu Osman confirmed that an army personnel had been arrested.

"We have remanded the man for seven days to assist in the probe."

However, Sharizal's uncle Mohd Fahmi Omar, 43, when met at the Cheras police headquarters yesterday, said he hoped police would be transparent in their investigation.

Fahmi, who was at the police station to make the family's first report since the incident, said he was worried about the outcome of the investigation
He said he was curious to know what actually transpired in the cell.

"His death is filled with conspiracy.

"There are so many unanswered questions in our minds. Why was Sharizal kept in detention?

"Why were we not informed of the detention? If it was food poisoning, why was he the only victim?" more...
