Malacca To Punish The Rakyat ?

renaissancedotcom

This morning while reading the newspaper, I was shocked to read this headline :

Mohd Ali: I have to rethink Malacca city plans

Newly sworn-in Chief Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Ali Mohd Rustam said :

“We wanted to develop it further but the rakyat is not so interested. If there are new things (projects), maybe I have to think twice. I had a vision to brighten and liven up the city but this drive (semangat) may be disrupted now.”

I find it quite apalling that the CM would give a statement as blatant as punishing the people for voting against BN in the PRU 2008. Eventhough the constituencies are represented by Barisan Rakyat, but more than a third of the voters voted for BN. But whatever the statistics shows, they will still receive collective punishment for losing their constituency to Barisan Rakyat.

The affected constituencies are :

1. P138 - Kota Melaka - 84,805 voters
2. N15 - Bachang - 23,153 voters
3. N16 - Ayer Keroh - 24,504 voters
4. N19 - Kesidang - 16,472 voters
5. N20 - Kota Laksamana - 18,930 voters

Eventhough this piece of news is from yesterday, but this issue has been nagging me for quite a while. Kelantanese has been the receiving end of this collective punishment for the past 18 years. How much money has been given to the Kelantan state government since the state was taken over by PAS ? Doesn’t the people of Kelantan also pay their taxes ? Why are they deprived of their share of fund from the Federal Government ?

Now that Kedah, Pulau Pinang, Perak, Selangor and Kuala Lumpur are under Barisan Rakyat, are the people of these states will also be at the receiving end of this collective punishment ?
