theStar - Kelantan Mentri Besar Datuk Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat has called for comprehensive live telecast of Parliament proceedings so that the people can judge for themselves, the performance of their elected representatives.
It should not be scrapped just because of outbursts among MPs on Wednesday -- rather it should be telecast live and every proceeding should be made available to the people, he said.
“I was actually ashamed after reading reports that MPs heading into Parliament do not have questions, nor written inquiries,” he said.
The live telecast should be continued despite the questionable behaviour of some MPs, but it is their right to choose how they want to behave, he said.
“The people want to see and hear for themselves the performance of their elected representatives.
"If it is not up to mark, they can then remove them in the next general election,” Nik Abdul Aziz said after flagging off a motorised convoy of 50 Proton Perdana cars taking part in a “Properd Matta” road exhibition.
