There is a reason for the land grab and for why Badawi crony Anuar Zaini is involved. Selling land seems to be the only way they know how to make money. Its quick and its easy. Tak payah pikir panjang. Senang aje. Hence there is no real wealth or new wealth being generated in the country.Barisan Nasional Land Grabs

Friends, another major land grab is unfolding. Last week, the Gomen announced that the mouth-watering strip of land in Lembah Pantai known as University of Malaya will be redeveloped. Details are always made fuzzy in cases like this but this is the age of Islam Hadhari. So the figures must necessarily run into the billions. Over RM4 billion approximately (give or take a few hundred million) is believed to be involved in this University Malaya land grab.
Land grabs and land scams seem to be the favoured modus operandi under the Islam Hadhari administration of Abdullah Badawi.
As late as last June, the Gomen maintained that the mouth-watering strip of land in Lembah Pantai would not be redeveloped. Also, too many University Malaya alumni who occupy important positions in the country kicked up a fuss. But it looks like they are not influential anymore.
(By the way, Badawi is derived from the Arab word bedu which means bedouin. Until today, the bedouins are camel herders. Our Prime Minister feels lucky to call himself a gembala unta. Why would anyone want to call himself a camel herder? Also, this name is incorrect because the name 'Badawi' is not in his MyKad nor his birth certificate. His real name is Abdullah bin Ahmad).
Oh well. The company involved in the redevelopment of University Malaya is said to be Glomac . But the real movers behind this deal are believed to be Anuar Zaini - media boss and major crony of Badawi. (Recall Badawi's disastrous TV interview with Anuar Zaini). Anuar Zaini has also been appointed daimyo of the NCER or Northern Economic Corridor.
There is a reason for the land grab and for why Badawi crony Anuar Zaini is involved. Selling land seems to be the only way they know how to make money. Its quick and its easy. Tak payah pikir panjang. Senang aje. Hence there is no real wealth or new wealth being generated in the country.
We all know the scandalous Gomen bailout of the Klang Port Zone or KPZ. The bailout involved RM4.5 billion, or so they say. Actually, the total amount is much more. The Gomen spent almost RM6 billion to bail out the KPZ. And it is still in deep trouble. Cronies of Ling Liong Sik and Chan Kong Choy made big bucks from all the construction contracts including building a hotel resort within the confines of a port authority. How stupid can they get? The hotel is now almost abandoned. The cash flow from the KPZ is a tiny trickle compared to the project cost of over RM6 Billion.
In Iskandar, nothing is moving or happening. Real Arab bedouins from Kuwait and Dubai are believed to have promised billions of Ringgit in investments but corporate people involved in Iskandar say so far 'habuk pun tak ada'. But Badawi cronies, including Patrick Badawi, are believed to be involved in hundreds of millions of Ringgit worth of land so far.
The same MO (modus operandi) is believed to be in store for the NCER where Anuar Zaini has been appointed boss. They will repackage the land and sell it off. Quick money. But not end of story.
In prime areas like Lembah Pantai, the private sector will gobble up the real estate like hot cakes. But in Pulau Indah (KPZ) and the NCER, where the private sector is not too excited, they will get the Gomen agencies (that's our money, the taxpayer lah, dumbos like you and me lah) to pay super-premium for the land. This is obviously what happened in KPZ.
First they alienate the land to a crony company (Ling Liong Sik, Chan Kong Choy). Then crony company sells the land at inflated prices to the Gomen GLCs. Then, when the GLC gets into trouble, the Gomen will take the taxpayers money (that's you and me lah) and bail them out. This is how things happen.
So, for those University Malaya alumni, if you are free do drive by the Lembah Pantai campus and take some good pictures. And wait for Phase Two.
What is Phase Two? Well, if they want to move the University Malaya surely they will need a new campus. New campus means new land. New land means more money to be made. This is a never ending story folks. Dumbos like you and me have been voting for these monkeys so that they can screw us again and again.
It is time to say no.
