thestar - [...] A 57-year-old chairman of a non-governmental organisation here has been detained for allegedly demanding and accepting bribes to “settle” a civil case in the Kuala Lumpur High Court.
It is learnt that the suspect, who is also a businessman and well-known figure here, was arrested by Anti-Corruption Agency (ACA) officers at a club in Jalan Kapar at 4pm on Wednesday after receiving a cheque from a man.
He is said to have asked for RM1mil to “settle” a civil suit on behalf of a businessman accused of murdering a teenager in Ampang a few years ago.
The suspect was taken to a magistrate’s court here yesterday and remanded until May 20 for further investigation.>> selanjutnya
