OPPOSITION parties will be allowed to do their publicity campaigns on the general election via radio and television stations once a guideline is drawn up and finalised.

China Press reported that the Information Ministry was discussing with the Election Commission on such a matter.

Deputy Information Minister Datuk Ahmad Zahid Hamidi was quoted as saying a code on such campaigns was being finalised by both parties.

Once the guideline is drawn up, opposition party candidates will be allowed to use the electronic media in their campaign.

However, the views and messages disseminated should not be in conflict with national interest.
